favorite stadium songs?
not sure if this has been done before...
just looking for everyone's favorite stadium songs/anthems... i'm sure a lot of us like the songs played at games, but have no clue what the names are. or maybe it's just me. anyway, if you know some songs your team plays before/during/after games, post 'em up. i'm looking to spice up my itunes with some stadium jams. the yankees play "heart of a champion" before the game and "new york, new york" after. obv. |

Re: favorite stadium songs?
I haven't been to a Brewers game in a while, as I no longer live in Milwaukee, but they used to always play "Wooly Bully." When they had the 13 game winning streak to start 1987, they started playing "I'm a Believer," as well. I am always reminded of baseball games when I hear those songs.

Re: favorite stadium songs?
When I went to a Packer pre-season game this year, there was a song with no words, just a kickass beat and a guitar that would play something and the crowd in the song would yell it back. I've heard it in the background of the stadium while watching a game on TV too. Anyone know what this song is called/who it's by?

Re: favorite stadium songs?
This year, I've really been digging that "Go Cubs Go" tune. It's pretty catchy and the whole crowd gets into it.
I also like "Sweet Caroline" after Red Sox games. In game tunes can be really cool too. When something exciting happens for the home team and they start playing something to jack everybody up, it's pretty cool. My favorite is the clip from that techno song Zombie Nation. Some of the stuff they play after homeruns is good too. I like the themes from "The Natural" and "Masters of the Universe." Least favorite: The clip from "Centerfold" they play at Comerica Park. Good song, but way overplayed and not at all exciting at the game. |

When a team/fans latch on to a song that isn't necessarily about sports its usually cool. When fans start falling for crap that was written specifically to pander to them it sucks. |
Re: favorite stadium songs?
During the 7th inning stretch of the Saturday night game of the most recent Orioles/Red Sox series at Camden Yards, the Jumbotron displayed a message like "In appreciation of all the Boston fans in attendance tonight..." and starts playing the opening of 'Sweet Caroline'. All the Red Sox fans (who of course outnumber the Os fans by like a 6:1 ratio) get up and are excited to sing, when just as the lyrics are about to begin, the music suddenly shuts off and the Jumbotron flashes "....NOT". And then they come back with their regular John Denver song.
Kinda funny if you were there. |
Re: favorite stadium songs?
Zombie Nation, the old Habs goal song, and Rock N Roll Part II.

I'm also going to guess that you do not know a Steve Goodman song other than 'Go Cubs Go'. |
Re: favorite stadium songs?
one of my favorites was hearing "nananana, nananana, hey hey hey, gooood bye!" whenever a pitcher was knocked out of a game.

Re: favorite stadium songs?
Zombie Nation as mentioned, I really like the Jump Jump thing Wisconsin does(I experience involuntary childlike joy whenever a camera high in the stadium starts shaking due to crowd noise), Hang on Sloopy obviously.
All the baseball ones mentioned so far are unbearably cheesy. John Denver sucks almost as much as everything even loosely affiliated with the New York Yankees. Not a song, but I also love the drum guy at Indians' games. Also, bravo to everyone for completely ignoring the OP's question(he wanted the random "jock jams" stadium guys use to pump up the crowd, not stadium specific songs that are cool). |

I find it particularly objectionable because Wrigley has alway kept music to a minimum other than having an organist. I was young in 84, I definitely remember Durham being the prototype Buckner though. |

And they're yelling "GO PACK GO". It would work awesome for any one syllable team nickname The Gators men's basketball team does their starting lineups to U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name". It's better than you think. Whenever anyone plays Kernkraft 4000 by Zombie Nation (they are "singing" the band's name, not the song's name), I automatically think of Penn State. Other songs I'm tired of: Soulja Boy -- Crank That (yeah, already -- who's going to do it better than Texas? AC/DC -- Thunderstruck The Hockey Song (hate it so much) |

The one I'm thinking of has the guitar doing a riff and then the crowd in the song shouts it back, guitar, crowd, guitar, crowd. I was at this Wisconsin game (Jump Around). Fun time. They also did "Sweet Caroline", "Brown Eyed Girl" and "Hey Baby". As well as many profanity-laced chants. |
