Crazy Women! Film and TV characters
Who are the craziest (nuttiest) female characters in film or TV?
I can come up with a few off the top of my head but I'm sure there are a lot more. Btw, I use the term "crazy" very loosely - kooky/emotionally unhinged/loopy ...even conniving and hostile will work. Or any combination of the above. Whatever YOU think qualifies as crazy is good enough for me! Keep in mind that I'm not talking about the actresses themselves (Dom's thread addressed that) I'm looking for favorite kooky characters only. Here's my first nomination: Vivien Leigh performing as the batshit crazy Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/753...etcar02hm4.jpg http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/4610/streetcar0iq9.jpg C rA Z Y |

Hamlet [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] is this movie any good? [/ QUOTE ] O, that this too too solid flesh would melt Thaw and resolve itself into a dew! Or that the Everlasting had not fix'd His canon 'gainst self-slaughter! O God! God! How weary, stale, flat and unprofitable, Seem to me all the uses of this world! Fie on't! ah fie! 'tis an unweeded garden, That grows to seed; things rank and gross in nature Possess it merely. That it should come to this! But two months dead: nay, not so much, not two: So excellent a king; that was, to this, Hyperion to a satyr; so loving to my mother That he might not beteem the winds of heaven Visit her face too roughly. Heaven and earth! Must I remember? why, she would hang on him, As if increase of appetite had grown By what it fed on: and yet, within a month-- Let me not think on't--Frailty, thy name is woman!-- A little month, or ere those shoes were old With which she follow'd my poor father's body, Like Niobe, all tears:--why she, even she-- O, God! a beast, that wants discourse of reason, Would have mourn'd longer--married with my uncle, My father's brother, but no more like my father Than I to Hercules: within a month: Ere yet the salt of most unrighteous tears Had left the flushing in her galled eyes, She married. O, most wicked speed, to post With such dexterity to incestuous sheets! It is not nor it cannot come to good: But break, my heart; for I must hold my tongue. |

I never saw that movie Fish. Can't believe anyone would want to terrorize Clint Eastwood! (The picture with her and the scissors is scary!) Fabienne: Ah, I like that. I like tulip. Tulip is much better than mongoloid. I love this nomination! Now we are getting away from horror and looking at women who are crazy without being murderous. I'm interested in which female characters you classify as "nutjobs" who weren't in horror films (drama or comedy). I can think of a few nutty characters who were borderline. They weren't flat out "crazy" but they were definitely a little off for sure. I will try to find some pics. |
Re: Crazy Women! Film and TV characters
Ok, would you classify this woman as "crazy" or just plain mean?

The insidious way she works her way into her life and then manages to maintain a completely crazy place in it while presenting the appearance that she's really pretty normal was scary as hell. Glenn Close had nothing on this girl, not a thing, not even, er, close. Anyone who hasn't seen this movie is missing something really creepy and fun. |

And evil. But she could compartmentalize, and her friends and family might never know the depths of her depravity. I guess when I think crazy, for contests such as this anyway, I think of someone who manifests it outwardly more and is less in control. If you call Burstyn's character in this role crazy, you have to also do so for Nick Cage's character in Lord of War, because he's morally reprehensible. However capable either character is of doing horrible things, they get along quite nicely in the world. |

Re: Crazy Women! Film and TV characters
oh, and mad nuns can get their own subcategory:
Vanessa Redgrave in The Devils, who masturbated on the leg-bone of the man she accused of witchcraft, after she dug it out of the ashes of the pyre they burnt him to death on. http://www.filmthreat.com/UploadImag...thedevilsX.jpg Hell, there was a convent full of mad nuns in that one: http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/466/devils5akv6.jpg Oh, and the nun driven nuts by sexual repression in Black Narcissus: http://www.bayflicks.net/blacknars.jpg |
