addidaschick looks like she went through froum by forum spamming. Here is the link to her posts before I banned her if you want to check your forum.

Against these types of spammers, the former almost never does much good. We should get a couple of these recent sites in the filter, though.

I'll ask Chuck to unlock it. Should be added sometime this morning.

This is pretty insane, the determination of this guy. He keeps coming up w/ new domain names, new IPs, new e-mail address w/ which to register, and for what? A 30ish spam message that don't last for more than an hour and couldn't gather more than 100 views each from people who are numb and hostile to his tactics. I know spam is cheap, but you have to wonder if this could even be remotely profitable for this guy.

If he gets a few people a day, he's probably doing ok. I wouldn't be surprised if he's hitting a lot of forums. Most of which are a lot less effective.

He might not even realize how ineffective he is here. Probably just hits one forum. Then the next and so on until 2+2 rotates back. If the domain starts getting blocked, he gets another.

It's very likely to be a bot right? The infrastructure required to run something like this isn't that extension, I imagine...

I hate these, but sadly I'm starting to accept that it's a necessary evil on 2+2 now. I'm totally fed up with having to hunt out and delete 4-5 of these spam messages a day the past week.

This isn't just a bot, btw. He answered someone who quoted his spam this morning, and he tests the filter now.

Whoever it is has moved to using geociti[/i]es, a domain that wouldn't be fun to block permanently. But I am going to filter it for the time being. Hopefully he'll get discouraged soon.

No, it was just a moment of real frustration coming onto MSHE tonight to see a long string of threads all with the same user having Last Post, and then going through tediously, deleting them all and banning him. This is happening daily and I realize it's not a big deal in the grand scheme, but today it frustrates me severely.

I feel this way too. I'd at least like some indication that there's some work being done towards a solution (or that when a spammer gets caught the admins are doing the "nuke all that guys posts" crap).

Mods are the solution. As are posters hitting the Notify button. There's an Admin marked as a mod in every forum, and when he sees a string of similar post notifications, as far as I've seen, yes, he zaps the whole account.

What's the guy actually trying to sell? I haven't looked, and nor has anyone else in the Zoo. The posts are skipped over and hardly cause a ripple, as far as readers are concerned. No one likes spam. No one reads spam posts.

If I was the guy, I'd only make one spam post every now and then. It would stand a much greater chance of staying up for a while than with his method of making 30 posts, which does get his account zapped and all posts deleted within hours, if not minutes.

You're worrying about it too much.

I don't like being the solution when a better one exists. If we didn't have better options, I'd be more than willing to accept our role. The thing is that there is stuff that Ryan and Chuck can do (and potentially are doing). I'd like to know what's going on in this area.
