couch philosophies

i have the "L" shaped couch and normally i sit in the middle of the longer side that would be described as the most dead center/frontal view of the tv.

the fact that the cushion is started to lose its desired firmness has caused me to start sitting in different spots on the couch (although these are more apt for a lying down approach of which i have never been a fan of...is that weird?) and considered rotating cushions but i fear my favorite spot with a new cushion will simply be too firm.

i have to assume the vast majority of people have their "spot" on a couch, but i could be way off. anybody just sit everywhere with no rhyme or reason?

anybody get pisssssssed if some a-hole whether it be a roommate/spouse/guest takes your spot?

I like the edges with the arm rests. Usually I just lie down though

I like the arm rests too. I also rotate the cushions.

I have a crappy couch where all spots are equally bad, yet better than my falling apart futon.

Dude, if you're sitting in a new spot, and it's not too firm, then it won't be too firm if you move the cushion to your favorite spot. Duh.

This ain't rocket science.

Oh, and I have a chair right dead center in front of the TV, and NOBODY sits in it but me. FTW.

if i move to a different position im changing my body positioning (aka most likely half to full lying down) so the cushion firmness necessities change...and although im not a huge fan of it, with the "L" its sorta the best option so im open to experimentation.

That's why you rotate your cushions and keep flipping them around over time so they all stay the same. That helps the look too, so one isn't big and high and the others all squished down next to it.

Also, if you get cheap(or expensive but low quality) furniture, the cushions can go flat and soggy really fast -- making both the look and comfort suck. So, a lot of furniture bargains are actually wastes of money, if you don't want to hate your couch or chair after a year or two.

it's been a while since i MSPAINTed for OOT, so here we are. The pink line indicates how i like to sit (with my feet up LDO) and my preferred choice depending on who is habituating the sofa/couch (delete as appropriate) at the time.

I have two leather sofas in an L-shaped setup in my living room. So far, no problems with lack of firmness on either.

The only "L" I can find in my couch is the one habituating in the word "Lazyboy". You should get one of those.

if i'm the only person on a couch, i last about 20 seconds upright before i have an irresistible urge to put my feet up on the couch
