Thurs night NCAA football

I'm on USF and Utah for tonight.

Continue to feel that Rutgers is somewhat overrated partly due to their success last year still.
I guess people are 'believers' in USF but really aren't in that so many seem to expect them to fall apart. Obviously that may happen but I really think these guys are pretty damn good.

Even Rutgers 34-13 win over lousy Syracuse last week wasn't that impressive. They were still up only 24-14 to start the 4th Q before finally putting them away.

Home-field advantage should be significant for Rutgers tonight and that's a pretty big concern of mine. They'll go pretty crazy in that place but I still like USF to be really motivated for this game and to pull it out.

TCU does not impress me. Barely beat a Stanford team that admittedly might be a bit better than people originally thought of course. Lost to a Wyoming team 20-3 that is decent but certainly not great.
TCU's other recent wins were 21-7 over SMU and 24-12 over winless Colo St neither of which really impress me too much.

Utah of course had the big win at LVL and previously the blowout win at UCLA.
Couple of unimpressive wins over Utah St and SDSU also so they do seem to be inconsistent. But for this game I really expect them to be fully motivated again like their other big wins and getting 3.5 points I just can't turn them down.

Added the under for Utah/TCU today.

Re: Thurs night NCAA football

Wow. I thought the line for Utah/TCU would be much closer to pk than 3. I agree and think there is good value on Utah at +3.5 and earlier this season I would have made it a 2u play.

However, I am sticking to my decision not to bet a penny on college this [censored] up season.

GL bobby and pirate.

Re: Thurs night NCAA football

I just don't understand why the line is so small on USF vs. Rutgers. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in. It looks to easy with South Florida -1.5 to -2
Just my two cents. Loved South Florida but now am second guessing myself.
confused???

Whats so confusing? Its almost an exact recreation of the environment and intangibles in the WVU and USF game.

Re: Thurs night NCAA football

i will be on utah +3.5 at some point, just waiting around in case i can get better number later.

i bet rutgers +3 -115 earlier. basically a "costanza" pick where there is every reason in the world to pick south florida, so when i saw a good number on rutgers, it seemed like a no brainer.

What?
Was the line really USF +1 at some point?
If so then what a freaking steal.

Re: Thurs night NCAA football

Grabbed USF -2.5 (+100) yesterday thinking the line would move back the other way and I could grab Rutgers there for a decent scalp, but it looks like Dr. Bob's Rutgers lean moved the line. Really have no idea what I'll do here between betting the other side at a worse price and taking a loss, letting it ride on USF, or even trying to get a real bet on Rutgers. I'm not going to have an official pick tonight either way.

+100 still isn't a bad price though at least.

Rutgers +120 ML and Cleveland +116 ML.

Edit: Only because both sides are the "sharp" sides IMHO, not necessarily because I think they will win.

Why would you ever bet the side you think will win? Sports betting is about getting the right odds, not betting who you think will win.

Re: Thurs night NCAA football

I picked up Rutgers +2 at +105. South Florida will face a more versatile attack than WVU, and they'll be doing it in rowdy New Brunswick. They might also be feeling the pressure of the #2 ranking, while Rutgers will be seeking to prove itself again in the national spotlight. Ray Rice has torn up USF in the past. I'll take the home team.

I would go with under 53. The defenses are tough in this game.

I picked up the over on 51.5 but having second thoughts. I think the total is pretty much right on. Little to no value IMO.

I apologize for my previous comment...sincerely. I hate the post-kickoff braggarts on here, and didn't mean to be. I just made a simple mistake.

See, I've always gotten Rutgers and Rice confused (which is idiotic, but I'm an idiot). So, when you said Rice Under, I thought you meant the points Rice scores (the college), not the yardage that he (the person) runs for. I was thinking the line would be about 23.5 (again, thinking points for the college), and when you typed 123.5, thought it was a typo, and I was just friendly jesting.

Instead, the lesson here is that

Idiot + Newcastle = Idiot.

Sorry, I did not mean to needle the bet at all.

Best of luck,

hd

Re: Thurs night NCAA football

Well I called a professional sports betting company for their one free pick of the week. They said bet more on the under since it was gonna be cold and rainy. Well the rain never showed up, and it wasnt that cold. I lost in that but won on the Rutgers +3 spread. Either way lost money tonight. Second time in a week on the over under.

On monday I was advised to take the over on the Falcons/Giants. I hate the over/under right now. Both recommendations came from a professional betting company. I think I'm better off just taking my chances on the spread as of now. This over/under [censored] is really screwing me over

Good thinking. I usually want more than a 2 game sample size before I start going against the advice of the professional betting companies, I mean come on, they're professionals!!!

Give up less than halfway through the year? Isn't the whole reason we use 100+ unit bankrolls is to absorb losing streaks? If you decide that you can't figure out this game then what hope do the rest of us have? I'm pretty discouraged by your pessimism. Seriously...hang in there.
