Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
PA calls on AAJxQ board. Phils JJ good
|
Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
What about the DN vs Gus hand?
|
Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
i believe PA had KK here, and they had a big prop bet that if one of em would show down an Ace they had to pay the other person. So pretty much only hand he was scared of here was JJ.
Read it BT's blog. |
Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
DN and Gus weren't even in the London game, I don't think.

Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
Do you think these two comments mean PA actually was +$15k on the hand, because the prop bets he won were larger than the size of the pot he lost? Or does it mean he lost $400k, but got $15k back in props, so was like -$389k?:
"The final hand of interest occurred between Patrik and Phil Ivey. The had about 400K in front of them. There was a ton of meta game involved as they had some huge side prop bets going on. I don't want to say numbers since its not really any of my business but they were gambling very big on the side." "My favorite part of the evening occured right after the hand when Patrik looked over at Phil and said thats a triple meaning he had won 15K on the hand in props." |
Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
pretty sure he still lost 400k, but i might be wrong.

Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
I agree it seems unlikely that the prop bets could be bigger than the pot. But at the same time, $15k probably doesn't count as a "huge" prop bet for these guys, does it?

Here is how it went down just before 9 PM: Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius, mano a mano. The board on the turn was Ac-As-Jc-5d. [/ QUOTE ] wtf what happened to preflop and the flop |
Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
What blinds were they playing, and how many players at the table?

Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
lol @ that being one of the biggest cash pots in history. There have been more million dollar pots in the past than anyone can count. Doyle mentions several pots he's played in which there was over a million dollars in the pot in his 50 most memorable hands book, and that's just one player.

Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
Antonius had to pay an extra 15k to ivey cuz it was a "triple" he had trip Aces.
They had to pay 5k for Each Ace they showed down, thats how i understood it. |

Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
So Townsend's $1.8 mil is still the largest pot ever played next to Beal vs. the Corp? (They had some bigger ones right?)

[/ QUOTE ] I've never seen any reporting on pot size, but they were playing HU limit with blinds at 50k-100k. You'd need to do some serious 3-betting for a pot to reach $1.8m, even at those limits. |
Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
Didn't they get up to $100k/$200k for a bit?

the sick part is the staff who clapped when Ivey dragged the pot [/ QUOTE ] Yeah... This seems very strange to me, but maybe they were just kinda of clapping because there was finally a lot of action, and would have done it if PA took it down too? This is basically the same thing as casino employees cheering for someone at a poker table. It's just bad. |

Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
I thought they clapped for ivey cuz hes a fulltilt pro
|
Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
They were probably clapping because they watched a WSOP final table on TV where the crowd claps after every hand. They probably didn't know any better.

Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
I did an interview with Ivey right after play wrapped up. It should be posted on the blog sometime soon.
The completely-out-of-line clapping was by the production crew because it was the largest RECORDED cash game pot in the short history of tv poker. Also, in those huge pots at Bellagio, Patrik told me they usually run in 3-4 times. |

[/ QUOTE ] yeah it was pretty brutal. several of us informed them not to do it again...but i'm sure you'll hear it on the tv broadcast. |
Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
Well there was a 1.3 million dollar pot at the Bellagio during the 2004 WPT chapmpionship that Doyle won. The money went in on the turn when both he and Lyle Berman made broadway, but Doyle made a club flush on the river. It was one of the rare times they played the big game uncapped.

Re: $807,400 LIVE POT PA VS. IVEY
I was going to save this for my blog but thought I would just share with you here:
I just had lunch with an impeccably reliable friend who had talked to the dealer from the Gutshot club who dealt this game. He told me that the prop bets were so large that they influenced the action. So, for example Ivey would avoid playing two hearts if he had a bet on a certain colour flop. And the total amount Ivey won in prop bets over the course of the game? $750,000!!! |
