200NL - 3way action with regs
I can't find the hand history for this hand, but I remember the basic action.
100bb effective for all I'm UTG and I'm running like 24/20/5 in this session. La Jolla Shores is UTG+1, and he's running like 16/13/6 over this session, around 130 hands. I have him about 18/14/3 in previous sessions. yabastid is button, don't have too many hands on him, but he seems TAG. Spiveydinho is dealt: A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Spiveydinho raises to $7, La Jolla Shores calls, two folds, yabastid calls, blinds fold. Pot ~$22 Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Spiveydinho bets $19, La Jolla Shores raises to $48, yabastid folds, Spiveydinho ? No real history with La Jolla Shores, although we've played back at each other a bit tonight, but nothing has been shown down. |

What's the worse hand you'd call/re-eval or raise with here?

Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
La Jolla Shores is pretty good and 3bets a bit, which maybe I should have mentioned. It seems like him playing AJ-AK like this is unlikely. We have better odds against draws, but that's the main difference between AT and AK I think.
|
Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
But it weights his range towards big draws, sets and air. Something that AT just doesn't do so hot against.
|
Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
I really don't see why AK does any better against that range than AT. The odds of him catching running pairs is small. I guess we're worse off against AJhh and AThh.

Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
It's just that sometimes AQ is in his range, I mean he might 3-bet it pre but since you raised UTG he might call with it and do this on the flop. That's why AK is a bit better than AT.
|
Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
I'll grant it's better, the difference is small though. Since he's fairly good, it's hard to believe he'd call preflop because I raised UTG and thought my range was small, but then I lead strong 3 way on this flop, and he decides to raise. Seems contradictory.

Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
To clarify, I still wouldnt call with AK all the time...just depends on game flow and history. I def fold it more than I call there, but AK is the worst hand Id consider calling with

i think i need AhXh+ to continue here

Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
I think youre ahead here a lot more often than people seem to think.
lajolla is pretty aggro, especially in position. I think if you're behind its from a set since I don't think I've ever seen him raise an ace on this board. I think his range is mostly comprised of flush draws, sets, pairs (77-99), and random air. it sucks cause you're oop and stuck playing a guessing game on the turn, but I think you have to at least call here against most regs. he'll give up most bluffs (probably not flush draws) and definitely pound away w/ sets so you're gonna have to play some poker but I think you're giving up too much by folding this flop, esp. against lajolla |
Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
I don't think Jolla gives up on the turn with air, unless I caught him playing on some sick tilt session.

Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
1) LJ is never giving up on the turn
2) he isn't near as spewey as he used to be, and I dont think he was ever THAT spewey 3-way on A high boards |

i think i need AhXh+ to continue here [/ QUOTE ] I remember this hand. And thought it looked like an easy fold unless you had ^^^^^. I'd say this is rarely if ever air. |
Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
ez fold vs. him from what I remember

Re: 200NL - 3way action with regs
I think the range of AhXh is ambiguous, because we always have a lot of equity.
Hands like A3 we may not have much equity at all. What do we do with A3s here? Call and c/r turn all in? I actually had A5s in this hand, although A5 pretty much equals AT, and thought it wasn't a tough fold, but was more interested on what we should be continuing with with. |
