Good list as usual Iggy. I'd flip USC and VT, but otherwise would have the same top 10.

Looks like the south rules...

I think Ohio State and West Virginia deserve to be ahead of Missouri for the time being; obviously, that will change if Missouri wins the Big 12.

I'm ranking the teams based on resume so I went ahead and put Oregon at #9 even though they're obviously not that good without Dennis Dixon.

1. LSU
2. Kansas
3. Ohio State
4. West Virginia
5. Missouri

My top 11:

1. Central Michigan
2. SE Louisiana
3. Toledo
4. Florida International
5. Kansas State
6. Baylor
7. Colorado
8. Texas A&M
9. Nebraska
10. Oklahoma State
11. Iowa State

Oops, my bad...those are the teams Kansas has beaten this year. You guys voting them #1 or #2: do you honestly think they are better than the other top teams, or are you just ranking them there because they haven't lost yet, and that's how the rankings work? I'll give them some respect if they somehow beat both Mizzou and Oklahoma, but today, Kansas wouldn't even crack my Top 10.

Re: NCAAF Rank\' Em (approaching Week 13)

I think they deserve the #2 spot now. They have played a fairly weak schedule, but most of the tougher games have been on the road and they've outscored the teams that they did face by a pretty good margin. Sagarin predictor which ignores wins and losses altogether had them #3 going into this week and that should be at least #2 this week after Oregon's poor performance.

Also, there really aren't a lot of contenders to put above them. Oklahoma and Oregon both have two losses and injured QBs. I'd expect Kansas to hammer either of those teams right now unless Bradford gets healthy in a hurry. Arizona State and Ohio State have played schedules almost as weak as Kansas as between the two of them, they have a combined record of 0-2 against teams I'd rank in the Top 25.

That leaves West Virginia and Missouri. WVU's played a little better competition than OSU or ASU as the Big East is underrated and winning at Cincinnatti is a legitimate accomplishment. The difference in competition hasn't been quite enough for me to overlook the loss to USF where West Virginia was dominated most of the game and trailed 21-3 in the 3rd before the Bulls went into shut-down mode. Don't get me wrong, West Virginia's a very, very good team and they're probably slightly better than Kansas in terms of pure talent, but I think KU's done a little more to earn a ranking.

Kansas and Missouri is the closest of all. Mizzou got a big quality win over Illinois to open the season and has outscored Kansas against 3 out of 5 common opponents with another (Nebraska) being a virtual push. I do expect them to beat the Jayhawks about 55% of the time.

However, the loss to Oklahoma can't just be written off now that we've seen the Sooners look vulnerable for a second time. Also, Kansas State was playing much better back in early October than they are now and the Jayhawks should be given a little extra credit there. Basically, KU and Mizzou are so close that I think it's only fair to give the benefit of the doubt to the unbeaten squad. LSU's schedule on the other hand, has been miles tougher than Kansas's (no pun intended), so it's only fair that they get the #1 spot for now.

I'm not convinced they should have the top spot either, but to play devil's adovcate for a minute, this might be the most impressive win by any team this year (despite it being at home.)

right, but if we can all agree that early season games count less....

I mean, they've won a bunch of SEC games. By not wide margins. 1 TD each to Ark/Ala? Losing to Kentucky? If we're talking about who's going to win on a neutral field tomorrow, I think LSU isn't even the best in the SEC - Florida is, imo. They lost by 4 at LSU in a game they could have easily won. I just don't think the SEC deserves the automatic bid this year. I mean, isn't that what they're getting? Ohio St. is a one loss team, WVU one loss, ASU one loss - to a top ten team no less, Mizz one loss, Kansas, no losses, and screw the ACC. The only reason for saying LSU is that they play in the SEC. Guess what, the SEC ain't the best conference this year. Or if they are, it isn't by any meaningful margin. Is that early season home blow out of Va Tech really enough to put LSU above all the others?

This is incorrect. They lost the least recently, which makes it the BEST loss, since thats all the idiot voters look at.

Re: NCAAF Rank\' Em (approaching Week 13)

I'm thinking we might see some voters re-evaluating their ballots at the end of the year. If we end up with 4 or 5 1 loss teams there will be quite the debate over which two get to go, and when you try to make the case for a one loss WVU over a one loss ASU, um, it's weak.

The real fun is if we have a LSU/MU NC game and a ASU/OSU Rose Bowl we might see another split championship.

What I like about him having Northern Iowa 12th is that you can't just chalk it up to overrating undefeated teams, because Hawaii is 23rd

Though to be fair he does rank Northern Iowa's schedule (#152) as tougher than Hawaii's (#153), so it makes some sense, hehe.

Arizona State's schedule is better at the bottom, but Ohio State's is better at the top. If you look at the coaches' poll, OSU has a home win over the #20 team and a road win over the #28 team while ASU's best win is a home win over the #39 team. Also, if you look at MOV, OSU has ASU rocked, ranking #2 in the Sagarin predictor compared to #9 for ASU.

OU's schedule isn't a whole lot better than Kansas', and no one has been hammering them on it. Yes, KU has played a weak schedule, but IMO it says a lot that they are the only undefeated team in BCS conferences. Not having them in your top 10 at this point would be a little absurd. You'd have them behind 4 two loss teams? Including OU who lost to a Colorado team that KU beat? (just using the AP to judge as teams you may have above them).

While KU didn't have anyone non-conference, it wasn't their fault that their conference schedule was so weak this year, it just worked out that way that their South games were easy. Beating OSU, KSU, Texas A&M, and Colorado on the road has to count for something. Granted, none of those are elite teams.

I don't think KU is the best team in the country, I think they will lose to MU. Still, I think they have handled the cupcakes by wide margins and being undefeated at this point in this crazy year is impressive.
