9/19 update: bigdogpckt5s, an AP tourney reg, talking about STEAMROLLER's wins in late August

[ QUOTE ]
Sep 19 2007, 07:43 AM
Ok only once in my mind did I ever think its possible that people new what was going to come up or could see whole cards etc. I was playing the 100 f.o. in the afternoon when this guy i have never heard of comes up to me and says bigdog want to have a 1k last longer at this point i was cl I quickly looked him up on the db and he was 0-24 in multis on ap and never had a cash. But i refused the last longer anyway because i didnt no this guy. He went on to win this tourny 2 hours later he found me in the 150k for a 1k last longer again. I refused and he also won that tourny which i watched him make the most absurd moves all toury long and continue to suck out and win. It was the most bizarre thing I have ever come across. I even called AP vip to inquire about this because why would a guy who is 0-24 try to make a last longer with a person who is usually ontop of the tlb for 1k and he then goes onto win both tournys. I wish i could remember this guys name but the fact is i cant. Anyway read what you want into all that but it was defenetly extreamly bizarre.

9/19 update 2: N82 making big progress on a "broken AP HH" converter for PT - expect screenshots soon

9/18 update: We have another rigged account, Payup, bringing the total to 5

9/18 update 2: In this Casinomeister thread, on page 3, a Casinomeister regular asks "if people really buy that crap". One post later, he gets outed as a 2+2 Absolute spammer with the same IP address as the President of Absolute Entertainment.

After the debacle of the last attempt I will be posting this in sections. Likely 3- but could be one more or one less depending how much I want to do.

This is a cliffsnotes of the old cliffsnotes thread regarding the suspected cheating accounts at Absolute.

First- the old OP by Imsakidd and some related posts/edits.

New 9/17 update: We have the Potripper final table HH: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=beats&Number=1212 3790. At this final table, he open folded PF twice and folded to a single PF raise twice in the last 27 hands. Both open folds were with AA and KK behind; the folds made to a raise were when villains had QQ and JJ.

Extra special mod note: random conspiracy theories about AP's rigged flops, other sites, or online poker in general = instaban. Take it to other threads or p5's.

new mod edit: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...umber=12111494

Adanthar requested someone make a cliffsnotes thread to condense the already massive thread, so here goes.

There was a thread in High Stakes Limit that has been up for maybe a week or so, with speculation that a few high stakes limit players could see hole cards. Accounts under suspicion were STEAMROLLER , DOUBLEDRAG , and GRAYCAT . The suspicion had to do with the Win% at showdown, river aggression factor, and their extremely loose preflop stats.

POTRIPPER also made it very deep in a $1k NL tourney, making expert calls like:

After some time (or maybe after xposted to BBV), some suspicion was also brought up regarding these players NL play, mostly at 10/20 and 15/30 NL. They all played a VERY loose preflop style (90/80ish) with hudge river aggression factors. These "superusers" were much easier to spot at NL, especially given about 100 hands of HU from ikestoys vs. DOUBLEDRAG. In the 100 hands, the 3 times Doubledrag folded were when ikestoys had QQ-AA, or when another player 3bet before Doubledrag could act.

It was then brought up that these accounts are very likely the same person, perhaps Mark Seif. Hold on, Let me get my DOOMSWITCH. He was playing HU at 75/150 poo fling, playing terribly and dropping a couple k. Then he says "one second punk"....leaves the table.....then comes back about a minute later and announces "I'm ready to take you down." (from linked thread). Highlights following this involved openfolding when his opponent flopped a boat and capping bottom pair when ahead, etc.

So I think thats the gist of it. It is pretty obvious that if these guys are colluding they are very bad at it and arent really hiding it at all. It is possible the accounts are an AP insider who is disgruntled (Seif was fired a month or 2 ago) and is trying to tarnish the sites reputation.

Nothing is 100% proven yet. There are a few hands where the accounts play in a way where it is not obvious they can see cards:

------- nerd debate ensues about just how someone would be able to create a hack like this. For purposes of this thread it's a huge yawner although somewhat interesting. I'll summarize by saying "nobody really knows for certain how it was done if done and whether or not it required an inside presence/knowledge of the software." This part of the debate really isn't important for the cliffsnotes.

------- there is another story about someone and Mark Seif in a session one night. I am leaving out that story also because even the person involved essentially came out to say he didn't believe Mark Seif cheated him. He also said his new policy is to never play against site owners. It's an interesting read but not pertinent to this thread. You can read it all here. .

------- much of the debate involved in the entire thread is over cheating vs normal variance/running hot. I think it is obvious in the thread that many respected higher stakes players whom nobody would think could talk about accusations like this lightly/are in fact quite convinced something is not right. I'll name Adanthar, Schneids, and ikestoys, among others. Sorry if I left you off but I wanted just a few names so people don't think "great another conspiracy theory- break out the tin foil helmets."

to give an example of how out of the ordinary we are talking... Gemmer points out this hand.

this issue is really bothering me a lot. a lot a lot.

Some guy who I met the other day who told me he "plays my stakes" and when he saw me with 4.4k at a 5/10 table said "you should move up you have enough to play 10/20" (for the slow: he is teh fish) told me he head that absolute is actually rigged. And that if absolute is rigged, how do I know Pokerstars isn't?

Right now, from the HH's I see here, it seems likely that he has read the monster threads, realized he has been caught and is now playing a maniacal style but intentionally losing this time so that people go "oh wait look that style IS a losing one", hoping to calm people down.

----- jman220 makes an interesting point to ponder.

"It is a little strange that he's willing to invest this much money in trying to repair his image considering the fact that we all estimated he won a few hundred thousand at most. If anything, I think this may be an indication that the cheating is more widespread than just his account, and he's trying to do everything he can to repair the damage he's done to his ring of cheaters."

and then another...

he won 37 buyins (assuming a buyin = 100BB) in 440 hands playing 90/70. do you seriously think its possible to do this without cheating?

[/ QUOTE ]

And that stat is still not the most amazing one. I don't think people realize how impossible it is to play 190 hands HEADS UP with the stats he had AND NEVER ONCE CALL ON THE RIVER. That set he had like around 30 WSD. That means that out of the 190 hands, he saw around 57 showdowns, heads up. He saw 57, and in all those 57 showdowns, he never once called on the river, he raised every time. I wish we had seen his went to river stat as well, because that would also be interesting. I cannot comprehend this statistic without him being able to see hole cards. The odds must be astronomical to have those stats, while simultaneously winning whatever ridiculous amount he won, with the won money at showdown stat that he also had.

I don't think we should focus too much on the whole "super account" concept. It could just be some little hacker program that intercepts the other players hole cards on their way out to the respective clients. Posibly within the program, before they're encrypted, or after on the network, if they've broken the encryption. That could also explain the lag when the cheater is moved to a new table.

Or maybe they've figured out a way to spoof the server into sending data a fake client, and somehow disabled the part that should detect multiple identical clients.

The point is, we don't really want to open up the door for them to come back and say something like "there is absolutely no such thing as a superuser account". There are other ways this could be happening.

Re: New cliffsnotes for old Absolute cliffsnotes thread

The only part I wish this forum would exercise a little more caution about is the allegations about Seif's potential involvement. Those claims are very, very dubious (i'm not ruling anything out, but I personally REALLY doubt that he has anything to do with this), and the only potential substantiation comes in the form of an uncorroborated report from a guy who Seif ran over HU >> WHO HAS SINCE RECANTED!

I just bring these points up to do my best to maintain this thread's credibility. The PT stats and HHs are IRON-CLAD, FOOL-PROOF, CONCLUSIVE. No reasonable pair of eyes can disagree with them. The allegations about Seif, on the other hand, belong in fairy-tale land (for now), and they shouldn't be held out to be authoritative; all they do for now is detract from the rest of the evidence's perceived legitimacy.

I'm pretty sure a HH of my 2nd place finish in the Super Tuesday would look just as suspicious (I play every hand).

His stats in this thing are something like 85/60, and what I left out is an absolutely perfect check/fold (inc first to act) vs bet pattern. Just like DD, he never showed down a worse hand. What you make out of that is up to you.

Later Cowpig states Adanthar has swayed him.

note: the other thread apparently just got locked so no more cool quotes... just hand done ones. BEAT.

------ Niss posts a concise/pithy cliffnotes. It is accurate- just not detailed.

The cliff notes are:

"Overwhelming, undisputed evidence of cheating via "superuser" account or something similar.

Then some newb idiot comes in and, without reading all of the posts in the various threads, posts how it's not conclusive and we're a mob.

Newb idiot gets shouted down.

Doubledrag then goes and plays like a major league retard, dumping thousands, in an obvious attempt to cover his play.

More posts about how this is conclusive evidence of cheating.

New noob retard comes in and, without reading the posts, says that we're all jumping to conclusions.

Rinse and re-wash"

From here much of the thread just peters out a bit.
There are some good posts- some retarded ones- and some funny ones. One of the funniest things to come out of the last 25 percent or so of the thread is a link to this Stud forums post about Absolute being retards about Razz rules.
Hilarious and makes head hurt

------- poster comhood shows up with HHs from the 1K with Potripper and ships Adanthar the goods.

I want to show them parts of my HH as additional proof (though not everybody, obv) Anyone know how i do that? ty"

-------Adanthar takes a look and replies/analyzes.

stream of consciousness post incoming. I'm writing down every single hand:

2nd hand (5 handed table):

Dealt to MONSTERHOOD [Kc 10s]
*** POCKET CARDS ***
MONSTERHOOD - Raises $7200 to $7200
BIGGIES05 - Folds
POTRIPPER - Raises $40800 to $40800

only fold in the first 8 hands is UTG - someone else raises UTG+1

6th hand:

Dealt to MONSTERHOOD [Ah 9c]
THE_GUN_SHOW - Folds
MONSTERHOOD - Raises $7200 to $7200
BIGGIES05 - Folds
POTRIPPER - Calls $6000
BLANCONEGRO - Folds
*** FLOP *** [2s 9h 3c]
POTRIPPER - Checks
MONSTERHOOD - Bets $17000
POTRIPPER - Folds

2 more PF folds in 8 hands (not much to go on in either) prior to FT bubble bursting, which happens like this:

BIGGIES05 - All-In(Raise) $28708 to $28708
POTRIPPER - Calls $28708
BLANCONEGRO - Folds
MONSTERHOOD - Folds
THE_GUN_SHOW - Folds
*** FLOP *** [7c 3h Ac]
*** TURN *** [7c 3h Ac] [8s]
*** RIVER *** [7c 3h Ac 8s] [2d]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
POTRIPPER - Shows [As 9d] (One pair, aces)
BIGGIES05 - Shows [Ks Qh] (ace high)

so he calls a 10x shove with A9o UTG+1 and has the best hand. interesting.

Start of FT:

Seat 5 - BLANCONEGRO ($117982.04 in chips)
Seat 6 - BIGSLICK444 ($59190.50 in chips)
Seat 7 - THE_GUN_SHOW ($53240 in chips)
Seat 9 - MIKECAROJR ($44430.50 in chips)
Seat 8 - CRAZYMARCO ($321308.50 in chips)
Seat 1 - MONSTERHOOD ($68420 in chips)
Seat 4 - PLETT25 ($63374 in chips)
Seat 3 - POTRIPPER ($252054.46 in chips)

This is the first hand at the FT. Note the odd fold here that we wouldn't see if he was cheating. An alibi? Read on:

Dealt to MONSTERHOOD [Kh 4h]
THE_GUN_SHOW - Folds
CRAZYMARCO - Folds
MIKECAROJR - Folds
MONSTERHOOD - Raises $8400 to $8400
POTRIPPER - Folds
PLETT25 - Folds
BLANCONEGRO - Folds
BIGSLICK444 - Folds
MONSTERHOOD - returned ($5600) : not called

very next hand:

CRAZYMARCO - Raises $7175 to $7175
MIKECAROJR - Folds
MONSTERHOOD - Folds
POTRIPPER - Calls $7175
PLETT25 - Folds
BLANCONEGRO - Raises $23700 to $23700
BIGSLICK444 - Folds
THE_GUN_SHOW - Folds
CRAZYMARCO - Folds
POTRIPPER - Folds
BLANCONEGRO - returned ($16525) : not called

Again, this looks like a legitimate donk play. These two hands back to back seem like a solid alibi.

Except the next hand:

Dealt to MONSTERHOOD [Qd Qc]
*** POCKET CARDS ***
MIKECAROJR - Folds
MONSTERHOOD - Raises $8400 to $8400
POTRIPPER - Folds

this is his fourth PF fold so far in ~12-15 hands. But the hand after that:

Dealt to MONSTERHOOD [Ac Jh]
*** POCKET CARDS ***
MONSTERHOOD - Raises $8400 to $8400
POTRIPPER - Calls $8400
PLETT25 - Folds
BIGSLICK444 - Folds
BLANCONEGRO - Folds
THE_GUN_SHOW - Folds
CRAZYMARCO - Folds
MIKECAROJR - Folds
*** FLOP *** [10h Qs 2c]
MONSTERHOOD - Checks
POTRIPPER - Bets $28000
MONSTERHOOD - Folds

If the hand before that was a 'respect the EP raiser' spot, this one seems odd. These are the first four hands at the FT, in order. Tentative conclusion: When he moved to the FT, the hole card cam wasn't on, and turning it on takes a few seconds - maybe you need to specify the table.

Hand 5: Potripper raises UTG and steals the blinds.
Hand 6:

CRAZYMARCO - Raises $7175 to $7175
MIKECAROJR - Folds
MONSTERHOOD - Folds
POTRIPPER - Calls $4375
*** FLOP *** [3d 5h 9d]

okay, another one of these. doubledrag does this a whole lot in his cash games, too. but you can argue this is evidence of legitimacy.

-------and then Adanthar clarifies some things.
"Minus the first two hands at the FT where I don't think he was cheating, the HH from 8 handed to 4 handed lasts 26 hands.

In total, he folded PF 5 times. One was when he called a raise and then folded to CM's squeeze behind. Of the other four, two were open folds and two were folds to a raise in front.

The raises in front were QQ 1x and JJ 1x. When he open folded, people behind him had AA 1x and KK 1x.

He also open limped on the button once (there were no other open limps in this HH), with 97s vs. what turned out to be KJo. "

----- several props/former props for Absolute chime in with interesting stories. For this thread they are irrelevant- read the other thread if you want them.

The allegations about Seif, on the other hand, belong in fairy-tale land (for now), and they shouldn't be held out to be authoritative; all they do for now is detract from the rest of the evidence's perceived legitimacy.

teddy- I pondered a bit before even linking that. in retrospect I could have/should have left it out- but even I wasnt sure where exactly the entire thread had gone on it or where this thread was going.
I did make sure to point out the player retracted that spin on it, and also that it was irrelevant to the actual discussion in this thread.
I certainly tried to keep this thread on point and limited to the actual data/actions/ concrete stuff with exceptions for things I found hilarious. In BBV it would be a crime to not have included some of those.

If I missed in that particular instance I apologize.
