foxwoods running promotions for the poker room? OMG

I received a flier on the mail today from FW saying they are giving double comps for play at the poker tables during weekdays. They have also recently added a player apreciation drawing once a month for playing at the tables.

I find this all interesting because of the fact mohegan will have a room in the near future and the rumors of massachsetts casios.

All the years I have played at FW they have never done much of anything for poker players.

They have also been constant radio spots on the local sports radio station w/ vince van pattan and mike sexton.

was wondering if anyone in the know knew what all this was about if anything

ps. Im not complaining in anyway here just thought this was interesting.

You are salvitating at the jaws, because you were thrown a bone, Harrah's has conditioned you not to expect. That's right, I wrote H-A-R-R-A-H-S. Yes. I know they don't own Foxwoods. Some joints, will toss a few bones, to stay on the fringes of the "Harrah's Behemoth" empire.

Does anyone have an ETA of when Mohegan is supposed to open the Card Room? Would save 1/2 hour on my damn trip up from NY.....Could even be a longer trip depending on the traffic route 2

here's my suggestions for foxwoods promotions:

- Employees won't be as*holes day. I'd suggest the fifth friday of the month.

- Four Cashiers at the Cage Day. Alternatively, they promise to have one cashier at the cage for every 400 players in the room. This one is probably impossible.

the word on mohegan has been feb-apr 2008.

it will be nice to have an option....

Hope the games there will be as soft as foxwoods. How far time wise is mohegan from foxwoods? never been there cause of their lack of poker.

As a Foxwoods regular, I hope so too. But if everyone from Foxwoods tries to go over there, the wait times will be worse there than at FW. Mohegan is only opening a 45-table room.

15 min or so. Don't speed in between, very costly.

Got my postcard today. It will be weird to live in a world where Foxwoods gives back to the players. I for one am going to give it a chance though.

I was hoping they would have a "Give Dana and Bev the same day off" promotion so I could play once in a while without being snarled at.

Most of the nits tell me "Oh it was so much better at Mohegan." If all of these folks go back then things will be much improved indeed.

I saw the promo signs when I was there playing on Saturday. Too bad I can only play on weekends.

I did get another bit of good news though. According to a dealer, starting Sunday they were going to do away with the silly practice of riffling once before putting the deck in the shuffler. Has anyone seen if this is the case?

I can confirm, the riffling was happening on Saturday and not on Sunday. Well, I think it's become a habit for the dealers now ... I saw the floors remind a couple dealers to discontinue the practice of riffling the cards before putting them into the shufflers.

Mohegan is 1/2 hour closer to NY than Foxwoods? So that was you driving 30mph down Route 2 the other day....

They also installed a bunch more TV's around the room. It's pretty much impossible to sit without a good view of a TV (or two) now. Saturday night, after the game was over, TNT had a movie with some cute young actress doing a strip tease at one point... very distracting when you're in a hand.

Don't mean to derail the thread into a OOT-esque post but I believe that was Gabrielle Union ... she took my eyes off a poker hand as well.
