Property: What Can You Buy For $500,000?
Okay so the idea of this thread is that everyone chips in with a picture of a property in their local area that is on the market for $500,000 or currency equivalent. Hopefully we will get contributions from people all around the world so we can form a really interesting picture of the global housing market; I'm sure there will be some amazing contrasts. For some people I imagine it's going to be hard to find a property valued at $500,000 nearby, but I'd ask that in that case you widen your search rather than lower the price; I think it will make for a better thread if everyone sticks fairly closely to the guide price.

Link 66 square meters flat, hall with place to eat, living room with open kitchen, balcony, living room, a small room in the basement for storing. It is newly renovated and in a quite new building which drives the price up, average price here is probably around 6-7k/sqm. |

Stockton, CA. 4 bed, 3 bath. backyard = almost non-existent. $499,000. 3000 sq feet. (To be fair, it's probably going to drop like crazy... nothing is selling here)

Los Angeles has so many different areas that $500,000 properties are relatively easy to find, the problem is you wouldn't want to live in them. To whit, for $517,000 this can be yours:

in austin, as everywhere, it depends. both houses are listed for $500,000

Ok, in the best neighborhood in Buenos Aires with the best possible location in the city, this would maybe cost you $350k, but I'm not even sure of that. Metro atlanta is going to win this thread unless we start talking about third world countries. I live in gwinnett, and my parents just bought a HUGE 4 bed, 4.5 bath home on a golf course next to a lake in a private club for like 400K. Magnificant view, in one of the nicest clubs here. SICKKKK value to be had in metro atlanta, espcially in Cobb and Gwinnett counties i would say.

This thread actually is making me feel pretty good about NYC real estate. I thought you would get more in many of these places for 500k. The only outlier seems to be the southern portion of the USA, where everything is cheap.

Here's a taste of Dublin, Ireland. These are all in fairly undesirable areas. All of these are between 350-400 thousand euro. 500k is approx €367k
