What Book Are You Looking Forward To The Most in 2008?
Currently, we are discussing what book, published in 2007, is the best. Well, this thread is about what book, scheduled to be published in 2008, you are looking forward to the most.
Most of these books came from listings on Amazon (and actually they only show books through July of next year) and other books are included due to being mentioned in threads here on the forum. This list is totally unofficial and inclusion on the list does not mean a book will actually be published in 2008. Some are probably totally wishful thinking. |
Re: What Book Are You Looking Forward To The Most in 2008?
I'll take Harrington on Cash against the field.

This looks like the list from 1997. I swear most of these books have already been written.

Re: What Book Are You Looking Forward To The Most in 2008?
I was going to say Ciaffone's NL book, but that should be out by the end of this year.

This looks like the list from 1997. I swear most of these books have already been written. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, quite a number of these books look to be reprints/new editions. When putting the list together, I had to make the decision whether or not to leave them on there. Since some people may not have read the originals, I left them in. The only books I culled from the list were ones that applied lessons learned through Texas Hold'Em to the "real world." The 2plus2 books were not listed on Amazon, due to publisher's policy, but were included in this list because they had been mentioned in other threads. The books I don't think will be published in 2008, due to being pushed back previously, are Negreanu's Power Hold'Em Strategy and the two books by Blade. I included Power Hold'Em because it would be a major omission, in my opinion, not to include it and I included the Blade books because the thread about them had been quite active recently. I want to make one more thing absolutely clear. I have no connection with 2plus2 or any other publisher of any kind of book. I am just an avid reader of books in general and a collector of poker books. |

Well sure, you know about HOcashH. Before they were published you didn't know about the great books from D&B or Kill Everyone or the Full Tilt Book.

Re: What Book Are You Looking Forward To The Most in 2008?
-PNL 2
-Harrington -Poker Tournament Formula 2? Did not know that, looking forward to this -The new SnG book too |
Re: What Book Are You Looking Forward To The Most in 2008?
Poker Tournament Formula 2 sounds stupid. I haven't read the first one yet, and now a 2nd version that sounds like a revision of a failed theory. I supported him on the forum but I want my money back.

Re: What Book Are You Looking Forward To The Most in 2008?
I voted PNL2, but I'm also looking forward to Harrington on Cash 1&2 very much.
[ QUOTE ] I was going to say Ciaffone's NL book, but that should be out by the end of this year. [/ QUOTE ] I hadn't heard that. Any information from a reliable source? 'Cause there isn't that much year left for it to be out by the end of. BTW, LOL @ Daniel Negreanu's Power Hold'Em Strategy ever seeing the light of day. And screw Negreanu hard & fast if he dares to publish More Hold'Em Wisdom For All Players. I bought that, and I want my freakin' money back. How good is your limit hold'em 2 ... has been pushed to 2008. I want it. Limit poker rules!

[/ QUOTE ] Well, all that Hold'Em Wisdom was was a printing of his newspaper columns in a book form. I imagine you will see More be published and I imagine that you will see a third volume probably titled Still More or Even More. This is strictly conjecture on my part. |

I never got around to reading it due to the fact that I learned the tournaments I play are too fast for even the formula to help me. For the sake of completeness, I will probably get the second volume. |

I finally got around to voting. It took so long because I was really putting some thought into this. I finally decided to go with the one I thought I would enjoy reading the most. I voted for Ghosts At The Table by Des Wilson.

Re: What Book Are You Looking Forward To The Most in 2008?
I voted for Gus' book - it's a play by play of last years Aussie Millions which he took out. I don't think anything like this has been done before?
Must say I don't get the interest in a cash game book from Harrington? Isn't that like Roger Federer writing a best seller on tennis then cashing in on its popularity with a follow-up on badminton? .Z |

[/ QUOTE ] This has been asked a few times. Mason responded and told us that before Dan become a top tournament player, he played in (and beat) the highest cash games available. I agree about the Gus book; sounds very good. PJS |
Re: What Book Are You Looking Forward To The Most in 2008?
I may have been the creator of the thread/poll, but I don't think I can, nor do I want to, add books. To do so would result in a list that would probably end up containing 500 titles.
To the poster who wondered about the dearth of limit titles, I can only list those I know about. Sorry. |

If you ever run across a good cheater, you wouldn't know it. That is why they are good cheaters. |
