Would you rather die asleep or awake?
Last weekend my great aunt died in her sleep. When my Mom told me about it she really stressed the "in her sleep part" and how lucky she was. I can remember my Dad telling me that my grandma years before she passed on had clearly stated that she wanted to go in her sleep. Personally, I'd lean more to the being awake side. In a sense I'd like to "acknowledge" my death. If you had to choose between dying in your sleep or awake, which would you pick? You will not be dying from disease or any unnatural causes (i.e, fires, drowning, gun battles with the cops, freezing, etc.) so they are a non-issue. It's just your time. So what do you go quietly into that good night or rage-rage against it?

Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
My dad always said he wants to go out with a sixteen year old girl riding him. It kinda creeped me out when I was sixteen, but I can feel him now. Me, asleep plz.

Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?

Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
I'm pretty sure that most people are unconscious when they die. I'm not sure if that counts as being asleep, but if I had to pick one then I'd pick being asleep.

Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
Sleeping obviously.

Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
Awake. I'd rather see it coming.

My father died asleep on his couch.
I can't think of a better way to go. |
Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
I kind of want to ride a freak wave or other form of tsunami as large as possible, hopefully one that is 300 feet+ and then just get crushed/instant death.
Sex falling out of the sky couldn't be too bad. |

I imagine that knowing you are about to die is rather terrifying. In my sleep plz. [/ QUOTE ] Apparently at the moment of death your brain will kick out lots of serotonin so you won't be afraid.. you'd be almost tripping. Anyone that has taken ecstasy knows how easy it would be to accept death feeling like that. I'd rather be awake |
Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
I only hope that when I'm old and near death I can get a gold digger 18 year old wife. I'll make a deal with her. If she has a kid with me, she gets half my monies. Only I'll already have had a vasectomy years earlier. AMIRITE??

Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
I would like to die asleep but I guess the other people in the car will hate me for that.

Asleep and getting laid. [/ QUOTE ] Also, in movies and stuff, old people go to bed each night part of them afraid that they wont wake up, I wonder if they actually feel that way? |
Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
It won't make much of a difference one way or another, so I could care less.

Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
I think I would much rather be awake. I'm not sure of any specific awake scenario I would prefer though. Obviously not something like a grease fire or getting shot and bleeding slowly to death or drowning or anything where I was in a lot of pain.

Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
Awake. I don't believe in any sort of afterlife so there's nothing better I'd be going to. Plus I am curious as hell as to what it would feel like.
Although given you don't really experience the moment of going to sleep, maybe death is like that. You feel kinda [censored], close your eyes and BLAMMO! Valhalla (or not). |
Re: Would you rather die asleep or awake?
I want to die in my sleep, peacefully, like my grandfather.
Not like the other three people in the car he was driving....they were screaming like crazy. Thanks, I'll be here all week - try the fish. MM MD |
