Medium Stakes off topic: Baller poker pad in canada, Interested?

I was contacted by KnifeParty11 in regards to finding a baller house/penthouse to live in for a year or so with a bunch of 2+2ers. I haven't discussed it in a ton of detail with him, we're just throwing ideas around. Basically what we'll be looking at is:

a) A 4+ bedroom house or penthouse somewhere in either Montreal or Vancouver. Location is seemingly debatable. My only preference is that the city population is > 1 mill and its a coastal city.
b) Rent could be reasonable if the place is balla enough, but we're capping it at probably 1500 a person (thats CAPPED. Realistically, probably around 1k per person)
c) You must be good at poker. We want people that can contribute to hand discussions and motivate each other.
d) You musn't be socially awkward. Seeing as i'm 21 and knife is 20, we'll probably have a lot of parties. I guess you should also be relatively young.
e) Financially responsible. I know we're all gamblers here so take that with a grain of salt. If you're a degen, thats probably fine, but please nobody who is taking shots at limits with their entire bankrolls.

Here are some examples of places we've been looking at

Location #1 - Montreal - rent $1150 a month/person

6 bedroom house, $6,900 monthly, indoor pool, freaking huge lot

Location #2 - Vancouver - rent $1333 a month/person

6 Bedroom MANSION in west van, 8,300 square feet, 7 bathrooms, home theatre room, on private cul-de-saq (parties), $8,000 monthly.

Too bad we're looking for people who are financially responsible, you stripclub degen. Nah, you'd be welcome if you didn't drop a bazillion dollars on your apt in melbourne

didn't say it wasn't. Anything over a million people and coastal is up for debate. So far we just like the renting options in van and montreal (plus they're kickass cities)

Awesome. I always liked the idea of "poker pad".
I am moving to UK (Bournemouth) for the purpose soon.

Re: Medium Stakes off topic: Baller poker pad in canada, Interested?

Always wanted to do something like this ala CTS and the Hermosa gang. September is too early for me though so I doubt I'll be able to do it.

Interior of the second place is sick btw, super bright. Not sure if that's a good thing but it looks nice regardless.

I like the simplicity of location three though, but it's not really balla either. Meh, they're all good except I can't tell much at all about location 4 except it looks ok but all the important rooms are missing.

Since I won't be able to get into this one I'll probably start a similar thread in a few months. Not limited to Canada though, I could do UK, Australlia, etc depending on who applies and everything else that would be relevant.

Pretty sure I saw that same house at the beginning of some Jenna Jameson porn, not that I'd watch that type of stuff.

My favorite is location 3, it has 3 floors and it's actually 2 appartments built into one - it's also a roof top location right beside Mcgill college

I will totally consider this if in Toronto. I have a business project about to start up and being in Toronto would be an advantage for that.

Btw...the 2nd place is unfurnished. No point moving in somewhere and then having to buy all the furniture etc

Wow that sounds like a good idea. I currently live in Quebec city and would really be interested in this, especially if in Montreal. Im leaving soon in Europe for about a month..I'll sure contact you guys after that or during my trip if possible.

as it stands now i prolly can't do this beacuse i'm in school and already have a place in downtown toronto, but this sounds [censored] awesome and i would definately be down if it happend again in a year or two. you guys should definately look into soom stuff and get some listings in this thread for TO, sick city all around...for anything that you would ever want to do. van and mtl are sick as well tho.

$CAN - but the canadian dollar is pretty close to the US dollar these days so its sort of irrelevant

The penthouse in Montreal would probably be the best option, its close to everything.

I'd not 100% sure but I have a feeling the two Montreal houses are 20-25 mins from downtown.

Re: Medium Stakes off topic: Baller poker pad in canada, Interested?

Just want to remind you guys, that listed prices are very negotiable. You'll be suprised but normally you end up paying 80-90% of the listed cost without much hassle.

Another thing is when you say $975 each you should actually not average it, but base it on the size of the rooms/quality/view/bathroom, etc. B/C if your getting a 6bedroom and the guy with the master is paying $1333, and the guy with the small maids room is paying $1333, that blows.

Agreed, you mentioned good points. Right now we're still in the development stages where we just have to find the right people, once that's settled we can work out the details amongst us - but you made a good point about the prices
