LOTR: The Two Towers (GAME THREAD)
Slightly revised roles here. Compared to the earlier version, this has one more villager, and an added corruptable villager, and Theoden is no longer reverse-corruptable.
----- Good: Gandalf: Seer, with Night 0 peek. Aragon: Angel, cannot protect Frodo or Sam. 50% protection on Gandalf and himself. Frodo: Masons with Sam. Ring-Bearer. Sam: Masons with Frodo. If Frodo dies, Sam becomes the Ring-Bearer. If both are dead, the One Ring is lost. Merry: Masons with Pippin. May communicate at night. Pippin: Masons with Merry. May communicate at night. Legolas: Vote is worth 2. Does not know his identity, but peeks and dies as Legolas. Gimli: Vote is worth 2. Does not know his identity, but peeks and dies as Gimli. Faramir: Corruptable Villager. Does not know his identity, but peeks and dies as Faramir. If peeked, his corruption status is NOT revealed. If the Ring-Bearer peeks him before he is corrupted, then he is no longer corruptable. If corrupted and peeked on the same night, the corruption happens first. Ring-Bearer: The Ring-Bearer gets a peek each night, starting with Night 1. If the Bearer is killed at night, that night's peek is wasted. If the One Ring is lost, all village power roles lose their powers, including masonries and Night Kills not used prior to the loss of the Ring. Evil Sauron: At the start of each night, can peek for the Ring-Bearer. However, if he peeks Pippin, he's told Pippin is the Ring-Bearer. Saruman: Godfather. Peeks as "Villager". Witch-King: Roleblocker. If you role-block Theoden, and Gandalf peeks him, then Gandalf is also role-blocked. Ugluk: Uruk-Hai leader. Each night, can give a name. If that person is Merry or Pippin, then they are captured and their vote is worth 0 as long as Ugluk is alive. Merry and Pippin will not know if they've been captured, and death will not reveal this information. Shelob: Big-ass spider. Her vote target is poisoned at nightfall, and remains poisoned for the following two days. A poisoned player gets an extra 2 votes added to his lynch total (including the night they were stung). The target is not aware that they are poisoned, nor will death reveal this information. The same player can be poisoned multiple times, and the poisons will stack. Once there are fewer than 10 players left, new poisonings only add 1 vote. Theoden: Terrorist. Cannot night chat, and does not know the identities of the Evil team, but they know his. Can kill any player, day or night, at the cost of his own life. To kill someone during the day, make a bolded post "I am Theoden. I blow up X". At that point, Theoden and Player X should be considered dead and may not post. Anyone faking this message will be mod-killed. The kill cannot occur in the final ten minutes before nightfall. However, If Gandalf peeks Theoden, then Theoden loses his Terrorist power, and Saruman loses his Godfather status. Furthermore, if Gandalf has already peeked Saruman, he learns his true identity retroactively. This event will be publically announced, but no identities will be revealed in the announcement. If Theoden attempts to blow someone up at night and is peeked by Gandalf the same night, the peek happens first. Independent Gollum: Gets three attempts to steal the One Ring during the game. At night, optionally names one or more people he believes to be the Ring-Bearer. This peek happens first, before any kills, and cannot be role-blocked or protected against. If he is correct, he takes the One Ring, wins, and leaves the game. Frodo and Sam lose their masonry and seer abilities, but everyone else is unaffected (i.e. the One Ring is not "lost" to the Evil side). If Gollum dies, or uses all three peeks without success, he loses and leaves the game. Gollum may not use this power Night 1. -------- Nobody acts Night 0 except Gandalf. 9 Named Villagers + 12 Plain Villagers + 6 Evils + 1 Independent = 28 Players Once you receive a nightly PM from me (e.g. with a peek result), you should consider it Day, and you may no longer communicate with anyone you may be allowed to communicate with during the night. (This rule is only because it would give an advantage to Frodo and Sauron depending on whether or not they're awake and online in the 9-10am timeframe) Questions by PM please. I may not be able to obsessively read the thread this week, so I might miss things. It is still Night. |
Re: LOTR: The Two Towers (GAME THREAD)
The story thus far:
Merry and Pippin have been captured by Ugluk and his band of Uruk-hai. They're being brought to the Wizard Saruman's tower in the mistaken belief that they are the Ring-Bearers. http://img-fan.theonering.net/middle...inorcs_ies.jpg Meanwhile, Gandalf the Gray has been reborn as Gandalf the White, following his epic battle with the Balrog under the mountain of Khazad-Dum and the mines of Moria. He is travelling to Rohan to confront King Theoden, whose mind has been corrupted and subjugated by Saruman and his agents. Hopefully he'll be able to stop Theoden before the King's inattention dooms Rohan to fall under Saruman's dominion. http://www.zone-sf.com/images/lotr2tc.jpg And in another part of the land entirely, Frodo and Sam move slowly toward the gates that lead into Mordor, where they must eventually destroy the One Ring. They may run into Boromir's brother Faramir, who will find his own allegiences tested by the Ring. http://www.kacper.ciechocinek.pl/galeria/big/dw-741.jpg Gollum follows the Hobbits as silently as he is able, looking for an opportunity to steal the precious Ring for himself, or perhaps steal it from Frodo's bones after he's been killed and eaten by the ancient, evil spider Shelob. Is it the old random argument, random vote wolf tell from me?
Or is it the old 'find a random argument, random vote' to appear like you have a good justification for your vote wolf tell from nich? Wait, it's day one, you can do whatever you want :] |
Re: LOTR: The Two Towers (GAME THREAD)
**** Named seer split
Gandalf - top half; peek aaronk-mark_k Frodo - Bottom half; peek neil-Zurvan If you don't like this, don't do it, but realize if you do your hints need to be clearer so that we're sure you strayed. With Gandalf needing to find Faramir, for example, there are benefits to not being restricted I suppose, but in general splitting peeks seems to do more good than harm. *** Enough of the seer stuff |

Don't split seer peeks. WIth a corruptible villager that we can keep as a villager, split = bad.

Or more likely to be Theoden.

I'd just rather not get screwed by seers leaving us nothing or worse than nothing. If Gandalf thinks I'm more likely than not to be Faramir, then he can peek me. How hard is that? |
Re: LOTR: The Two Towers (GAME THREAD)
I keep saying "faramir" when I mean "Theodin" obviously.

Re: LOTR: The Two Towers (GAME THREAD)
Stephen:
This [ QUOTE ] I also made it pretty clear that following a split is optional based on seer preference. [/ QUOTE ] sucks We can't have one seer split, and the other NOT split. No seers should be splitting lists, especially not in this game. SEERS: DO NOT SPLIT THE LIST. PEEK BASED ON YOUR BEST JUDGEMENT. THANK YOU |
Re: LOTR: The Two Towers (GAME THREAD)
Splits also run the risk of the seer's false hints from the opposite half (which become necessary so the Nazgūl can't tell who's who) hurting the village more than the wolves in the event the seer dies before explicitly laying out his peeks.
I agree with Zurvan, though I don't think throwing out the idea makes Stephen suspicious. |
Re: LOTR: The Two Towers (GAME THREAD)
this isn't a problem if we simply have both seers come out and tell us who they're peeking tonight

Re: LOTR: The Two Towers (GAME THREAD)
I don't think a plan for 1 seer to peek from half the list, and the other one to peek wherever he wants makes any sense at all. It restricts one seer and doesn't eliminate duplicate peeks. And the restricted seer is the one with the mason.
I don't like this at all. [ QUOTE ] Whatever. I also made it pretty clear that following a split is optional based on seer preference. I'd just rather not get screwed by seers leaving us nothing or worse than nothing. If Gandalf thinks I'm more likely than not to be Faramir, then he can peek me. How hard is that? [/ QUOTE ] |

btw, that is not a vote. And, I actually think stephen mixing up the names is pretty villagery, fwiw. [/ QUOTE ] I am not sure which game it was, but I was reading an old game and I believe it was Nich who posted a seer pick split that guaranteed he would not be peeked. When the seers have different goals like in this game, it makes sense for them to troll the entire list rather than being stuck on half. When we have 2 equal seers the split has some merit. |
