Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
This is a great interview.
I have been trying to guess the poker pro...I think it could be Chip Jett, but I don't remember him making any big wins last year. Any other guesses? Interview with Live Poker Pro |
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
Him: Well I only have 30% of myself in this tournament, so I'm not really caring about it that much.
ugh. |
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
he sounds like a fool.

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
How depressing to read. Thanks for the link. If you live in Canada, check out cgtv's show called 'beyond the felt'. They always repeat the same show where live pros talk about the reality of being a poker player. It's basically saying the same thing as this article but featuring interviews with mike the mouth, antonio, laak, and a few others.

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
good read... I doubt it's Chip Jett though... I can't recall a big score he had last year at the Series
|
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
its defo not chip jett.
|
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
Insanely depressing. If anyone wanted to do the research, it wouldn't be hard to narrow down a list of 30-something live poker players who were recently divorced with big wins (>500k? Enough for a house and some serious degenerate gambling) last year.
|
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
chip jett's kids aren't old enough for him to miss events.
any other guesses as to who this is? |
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
I'd like to throw my computer in the [censored] pool right now.
yea that's pretty sad |

You can't not be impressed at this guy's honesty. No wonder he sucks at poker
Seriously though, not many guys in the poker world are that honest....very refreshing. |

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
I think itīs that british player with the crepy smile who was in a documentary about 2 years ago.
He had a child with a russioan mailorderbride and wanted a DNA test to prove it wasent his. I have absolutely no reason to think heīs the one, but he probobly is. |

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
what about singer?
|
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
99.99% sure the pro being interviewed is Layne Flack.
|
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
I can't read the article because of corporate filters. But isn't Carlos in his 30's and recently divorced? I think he also had a decent sized score and made like 4 FT's at the WSOP last year.
|
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
Hellmuth except he's in his early 40's. And the interview didn't mention divorce. Just that his wife left him a few months ago and took the kids.
|
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
It's kind of hard to believe that a live "face" would gush so much about online players. They just don't do that. Even though it's all pretty much true.
And yteba, you're talking about Garry Bush. This isn't him, I can assure you. |

Annie Duke They just changed it from a guy to gal?

Staked and is still going to get 300k for his house.
How is that broke? Sounds like a [censored] moron to me. |

[ QUOTE ] Just that his wife left him a few months ago and took the kids. [/ QUOTE ] really? didn't know that. [/ QUOTE ] I meant in the interview (in OP's post) the guy said his wife left him and took the kids. Not that there was an actual divorce (yet). I still think it's Hellmuth even though he's a bit older. Note the golf, craps and baccarat. Wife and kids. |

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
I thought the main point of the interview was telling: that many high profile live players are busto or near busto and have little chance of recovering. There was another post today in a forum with a reply to the WPT and he mentioned that many players there are busto and need to make more than 12/1 on their buy in (Bellagio championship) that they get for coming in 6th.
We've known for a long time that staking is going on but the extent of it among "name" pros that TV has promulgated as being the "best of the best" is interesting. |
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
BTW, does anyone on 2+2 know Hellmuth?
|
Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
Can't be Hellmuth since he is absolutely loaded, plus if you read his blog he still has a happy family life. Couldn't be Mizrachi either since he's in his mid 20's. My guess would be Victor Ramdin - he won the Foxwoods Poker Classic in 2006 and appears to fit the profile of a mid 30's family man. If you've seen him on High Stakes Poker then it's easy to see how he could be broke

Re: Great anonymous interview about being a broke player
My guess is Joe Bartholdi
From interview "Also, I only had 50% of myself for my win last year, so after the tax man got his cut, I didn't win nearly as much as people would think" From his Wiki: "Cassidy and Bartholdi swapped 50% with each other for the World Poker Tour (WPT) season 4 $25,000 no limit hold 'em championship event. Bartholdi outlasted 604 other players to win the event and claim the $3,760,165 first prize. He also made the final table of the WPT Battle of Champions IV event shortly after." It also talks about how poor is BR management is. The only part that didn't fit was that Joe is only 27 (according to Wiki) |
