light beer generally only has ~2/3 the calories of regular beer. It's not like it's a massive difference (like the difference between drinking regular coke and diet coke).

btw, if anyone out there drinks light beer because they prefer the taste to regular beer, i have a grease fire you might like to step into.

I dont really drink anymore, but when I do I usually get Michelob or Bud Light. I like the taste and I can drink more of them which makes me look "cool".

not sure where you live, probably canada (lol), but i currently work at a gas station and when the budweiser guy comes we get about 6:1 the amount of budlight : budweiser in both 12 packs and cases. same goes for busch and busch light. people here just dont ever buy the full flavored stuff.

i just dont get it, budweiser and busch taste a ton better than their light counterparts. i drink a lot, and i used to drink a lot of light beer while living near a college campus, but now all i drink is heavy beer and i dont notice a "full" feeling. i can drink the same amount but with a better taste, at the same price.

edit: it might be more than a 6:1 ratio, prlly a lot more.

I live in the UK. I think the ratio of full:light on tap is like 100000:1 here.

BL drinker for life.

Had to finish off a keg of Coors lite and thought it taste more like water than BL did. Which would totally turn me on (yep, I love bland beer), but I didn't like it for some reason.

Go ahead have a field day with me, but BUD LITE FOR EVA!!!!!

PS. One day I'll post pics of my basement and the collection of over 250 different beers consumed. And still counting......

(no not a collection of BL cans.)

many draught bitters and real ales are served warm - they taste much better that way. Lager is served cold.

since i love beer so much, i will probably try this before i diss it. i just find it hard to conceive enjoying and warm beverage over its cold version

It's a bit like white wine vs red wine.

You get a much fuller flavour at room temperature from richer drinks. Lager (or what you call 'beer') is definitely way better cold, but virtually all Keg bitters taste better at ambient temperature. Bottled are often better cold. Some work both ways (ambient Guinness is good on a cold day, but Guinness is still good cold).

Try a few 'real ales'. Some can be foul, but some can be fantastic. Don't be put off by the first you try. They have names like 'old peculiar' and 'the bishop's trousers'.

i appreciate the real advice, and i would honestly like to try what you describe. but since i am only 20 i can not even drink at a bar in my state. perhaps you could advise me what warm beverage i should try first. preferrably something easily found in the states.

Re: honestly..

Err, Guinness?

Honestly, the only bitter/ale I think you guys can get is bottled Newcastle Brown, which tastes better cold IMO. It will however warm in your hand, and you will notice the flavour gets richer as it warms. It's not a bad replacement, but no where near as rich in flavours as keg real ales, but might give you an idea what's in store.

OTOH, if your used to ice-cold bud etc, it might taste foul to you, I dunno.

EDIT: This thread might be worth a look through. Also pm Wook about it, he might be able to set you straight: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...e=0#Post6616411
