Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
I am so f&*%$#g sick of that stupid D&B bunch of goons. They have been talking about that Tanenbaum book, the Carl Sampson book and especially the shorthanded book by Terrence Borer and Lawrence Mak for well over a year now. Every time they announce a release date for any of the books it gets moved back a month without fail. This has been going on and on with them for as long as I can remember. They are a bunch of jerks and couldn't organize a binge drink in a brewery. It annoys me so much I want to boycott their books altogether except for the fact that I'm interested to read them and How good is your limit hold 'em is one of the best books I have read!
Reminds me of stupid Negreanu and Cardoza and his book that will probably never happen. |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Hoping to restrain Adman from taking a dive off a cliff, Barry says he's expecting it out in the UK end of August and US end of Sept.
My money's on Mike seeing a copy before Barry. lol |

Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Hi. Thanks for being interested in my book. D&B is a small shop, so delays do happen.
The book, Advanced Limit Hold'em Strategy, goes to the printer on Monday. The printer is in the UK, so It will be available there first, and should ship tot he US in about 3-4 weeks. I hope you all enjoy it, or at least can gain something of interest. -barryt BTW, the short-handed book is not far behind, and I do believe it will be very well received and worth the wait. |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Barry, your interview with Lou and Amy on Holdem Radio was absolutely outstanding, sir. Segment 2 on equity and raising the blinds was something rarely discussed and your explanation was top shelf. If the book is even near the level of this discussion, yours will become one of the must read books of the year.
nh, sir. Once again, when E.F. Hutton speaks... |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Barry must of posted right before heading to the Bellagio where I ran into him last night. I'll be putting the book up for pre-release orders now.

Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Thanks, Jack. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do cover that material in the book.
Interested members can listen to the interview here: http://holdemradio.com/pages/keepfloppingaces -barryt |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Barry, I don't know how many times I've listened to that interview on my MP3 player, but it's been half a dozen, at least. All I can say is, if that material is covered in the book, then you may have one of the very rare books on the market today, a book that will be not only of interest, but help for advanced players.
I expect it to do very, very well, and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. <nudge, nudge> |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Despite the fact that I HATE what D&B do over and over again- namely announcing release dates for new books and then constantly delaying them (I don't care what their reasoning is, they should be more professional and stick to their public announcements or just not make any until they have a firm release date in mind)- I will be buying both books. I'm especially excited about the shorthanded book. Shorthanded limit hold 'em is still an area that is lacking when it comes to poker literature. All that is currently available is the Stox book and some individual chapters by Maroon, Yao etc. Of course there is the Fromm/ Zee book on the way and that should be an absolute cracker.

[/ QUOTE ] I finally had a chance to listen to the podcast and I agree. It was an excellent discussion and the segment on equity & creating dead money was outstanding. I've talked about this concept with Barry before and the interview was a great refresher. Looking forward to both of Barry's books. |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Is "Advanced Limit Hold'em Strategy" shipping yet?
Any reviews? Thanks! |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Ha! Are you joking? Surprise, surprise- more delays and now Amazon are saying they don't know when "OR IF", the titles will ever be available. Goes back to what I have been saying about D&B- what a joke.

[/ QUOTE ] I got mine last week ... it looks like it should be called intermiediate hold'em and not advanced hold'em from the looks of it, in other words targeted at the player that has learned to play but need to move on from noob That being said I've only read around 40 pages or so, so this is only a first impression and not a valid review by any means. Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Hopefully this means the boat on the way to the USA with them should be here shortly.

Gelford, can you tell us a bit more about the book please? Very interested to hear.
Thanks. |

Gelford, can you tell us a bit more about the book please? Very interested to hear. Thanks. [/ QUOTE ] Sure ... only trouble is that I am (after nearing two years of living of poker) starting in a new job today, so I dunno when I'll have time and in the mood to read it, but I'll update you when I have more impressions. [ QUOTE ] Yes please, also, where did you order it from? thanks. [/ QUOTE ] Highstakes.co.uk ... they also claim to be shipping me the shorthanded book this week |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
Remember Gelford is across the pond and on the same side of the Atlantic as the publisher and printer.
Mike, I was just about to PM you to see if you had them, I assume from your post the answer is no and I can save my Estamp. |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
they (Amazon) still contend I will receive this book sometime between sept 13 (tomorrow) and sept 23rd 2007
seems like they have presold all the first shipment and then some. |

[/ QUOTE ] I have strong doubts. The USA distributor told me yesterday they have not reached their warehouse yet but are expecting it soon. Once the USA warehouse gets them allow 1-2 weeks for Amazon to get then in and through their system. I hope to get them in a few days after the warehouse. |
Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
I have ordered mine from some mob in the UK. Heres hoping........

Re: Barry Tanenbaum\'s new book, review?
The one I'm really really excited about is the shorthand book. From the extract I read on D&B's site this one looks very exciting indeed. I've got a feeling this one is destined for "bible status" when it comes to shorthanded games, much like SSHE was for loose games.
