If you like grinding and petience, limit is the game for you. But be prepared for up and down swings.

In response to whether you should switch to stud or not, depends on the player's ability to adapt to diff. formats of games. Also, in the medium stakes games stud is sometimes SPREAD limit instead fixed-limit, and raises more concerns about adaptability. If you don't bluff often and like to see your strong hands win decent money, I would suggest fixed-limit hold'em. No-limit is a game of traps and if you have the second best hand when your foe has the nuts you can lose your whole stack in one hand. Actually, variance is not as big an issue in Limit (although it is somewhat of an issue, especially if you have loose opponents). Variance is, to put it briefly, your bankroll ups and downs. Since you can only bet/raise and/or call small bets you can sit in a game longer a get a better feel for your opposition.

I have just switched from PLO and NL hold em because of the huge swings. So far the swings in limit are not too bad even if someone is loose and gets lucky. If you are patient limit can pay dividends.

You said you don't like mind games and bluffing. In SSHE, a bluff will rarely be pulled off because a single bet is small in relation to the size of the pot. So even if someone has been chasing a flush draw will sometimes call a river bet w/ Ace high. On the other hand, you can value bet all day long w/ good hands and get paid off. But varience is extreme in limit. Be prepared to have swings of 150-200BB. But if you have patience, you will accept that. Always remember there is more varience in limit than NL. If you hear otherwise, don't listen to the advice.

This is of course is in small stakes. If you plan to play higher stakes, bluffing becomes a tool but IMO it's irrelevent in small stakes.

I have to say that stud is bank. I suggest that you play limit holdem with your grinder attitude. The reason stud is money is bc all of the NLHE donkeys seem to be getting bored and/or broke with it and trying new stuff. Same goes for O/8. If you understand draws at all, O is a blast and the donkeys are everywhere bc they don't understand an ante structure to play stud. If they do, then they're dumping at $1/2 or $3/6. Its very nice! We make sexy time!
