OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
Villian is running 21/15. His post flop aggression was standard for a TAG. I've been pretty active.
So, how is the best way to play this postflop given stack sizes and being OOP? I didn't like b3betting cuz I don't think he's raising w/ air enough to get him to fold and it seems like higher variance this deep. So, I just went for the good ol c/raise semibluff hoping i was just trapping cbet $$ PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards) saw flop|saw showdown</font> MP ($143.10) Button ($264.40) Hero ($397.95) BB ($373.90) UTG ($254.50) Preflop: Hero is SB with http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/.../smiles/ts.gif, http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/.../smiles/8s.gif. 3 folds</font>, Hero raises to $8</font>, BB raises to $24</font>, Hero calls $16. Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
I dont know about preflop. In position, I want to see a flop. I would just dump it preflop after you got reraised.
I like the check raise on the flop. You have a solid image and I think if villain is any good he would have a hard time calling with anything less than 2 pair. |
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
Whats your plan for:
1) He pushes 2) He calls |
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
Meh, you can go a number of ways. Personally I think I like two barreling. c/r is wayyy awkward if he calls and you blank.
|
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
you have no FE
|
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
I think preflop is very bad. Position is even more important when you're this deep, so fold after the 3bet.
|
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
yeah, probably not alot fe. I probably just c/c the flop and fold a missed turn. oh, and fold pf. |
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
PREFLOP: I'd much rather be in position but whatever.
POST FLOP: Check-raise is pretty terrible because you'll almost be pricing yourself in if he pushes. And if you don't think that he's raising your flop lead with air very often than leading is so so much cheaper considering that he likely has a good hand since he 3-bet preflop. I prefer bet/3-bet...stack sizes are pretty good for it. If he calls your flop bet, I'd probably lead the turn even if the turn is a blank. Online players hate losing 200bb stacks and often play xtra nitty. |
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
I would never call here OOP. As played I would try to play it like a set, and on this board that would probably mean check/call on the flop, and my action would vary on different turns.
|
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
I would probably lead flop and check/raise any turn because I think we get the max amount of money in from his weaker holdings and we can get a few better hands to fold (c/r flop is okay but you are in an awkward spot when he shoves)
|
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
Mehh c/r flop is sort of sucky. I probably c/c and c/r scary turns, spades, and maybe a ten or eight if im feeling frisky.
|
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
Preflop is marginal. Easy call IP, but OOP... meh.
Not the greatest spot for a c/r either. I think your FE is questionable, and getting called leaves you in an awful spot when the turn blanks. I think I'd c/c the flop since we have good implied odds if we hit, and there's a good chance we'll get to see a free river since villain likely won't put us on a draw and will ck behind on the turn frequently. |
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
C/calling flop w/out intention of making donk turn lead or c/raise on turn makes me wanna puke
|
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
I lead flop. he raises I often shove, he calls I get a fairly cheap turn with a concealed hand.
then lead scare turns (Q+) and obv lead when we hit, check most others. Usually c/c a turn bet of his, sometimes c/r sometimes c/f depending on how strong he feels (bet sizing, timing, etc). |

C/calling flop w/out intention of making donk turn lead or c/raise on turn makes me wanna puke [/ QUOTE ] Maybe, but c/r'ing and getting called/shoved makes me want to puke even more. This is why playing SCs and one-gappers OOP sucks donkey balls. |

Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
I think you know this should be a fold preflop.
I prefer bet 3 bet to this but check/call over both of them. check/push a spade on the turn and maybe, just maybe, he'll be able to fold JJ/QQ if he has them. |
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
Going to take a stab here.
Everyone seems to agree that being in position is better. I think I am calling based on stacks here as well as OP. On the flop, I at first didn't mind the c/r but after reading responses agree that the bet/3bet or bet/donk turn is better, based on fold equity in this spot. If we get a call on the flop and turn a spade or a pair, I don't mind the turn c/r because of our added outs... especially if the spade is a scare card (A/K... J lol). As played, we are nearly committed now, calling a push and/or pushing all turns... although getting there and checking to induce is always fun. |

Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
I think I prefer c/c flop c/r turn given history and the fact it's a blind battle. Baby Jesus becomes very unhappy when he shoves the flop, which I see happening from villain.
Problem is pot might be too big for him to fold the turn after betting and getting c/r, except for air. Obv open shoving river if I make it home. |
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
Also who is said villain?
|
Re: OOP in 3bet pot. Sorta deep
Check raising a blank turn is a spew IMO cause I really doubt he's bet/folding the turn often.
