Turning $50.00 into $10,000.00 - Poker blog 10k challenge.

Wasn't sure where else to put this post. If this is not the appropriate section, please feel free to move it.

I've started a blog tracking my bankroll building process. I've done this once before and had a lot of fun with it. Lower limit players can follow along and do the 10k challenge as well and post their comments after each session I post.

If others out there have blogs tracking their progress like this, post it here - I'd love to follow your progress as well.:)

I was very interested in reading a blog like this -

You posting every single hand of every single session you play seems really cumbersome and tedious though. You need to make your blog more appealing to the average reader, no one wants to read through your 100's of unedited hand histories.

Also, how can you do this if your only playing at FT? Not even bonus whoreing?

Anyways, good luck.

Yes, I'm doing a similar sort of thing based around Jesus Fergusons bankroll challenge, and am also using FTP as poker room of choice. My efforts can be followed on my blog. Any comments by visitors are greatly appreciated.

"I picked up an open ended straight draw and a flush draw. Against two opponents and I feel pretty safe that hitting either will win the hand for me. I'm actually hoping for a call here from a big ace. With 15 outs, I'm a slight favorite here if I can see both the turn and river."

The great part about these things is that if the person is capable of doing it, they shouldnt be wasting their time on it.

So what you end up with is a flavorful blend of deluded retards and people who're well off enough to not care, and who have way too much time on their hands.

I think that blogs like these could be very helpful for the novice poker players. A game like poker, which is enormous in its combinations, can be learned well only if at first one reads a lot about it, and not only the rules and the strategies.

Re: Turning $50.00 into $10,000.00 - Poker blog 10k challenge.

My blog has been around most of the year, but I am doing the challenge for a few reasons. The main being an exercise in discipline and bankroll management. I had a windfall recently that was enough to pay the rent and bills for the next year allowing me to quit my job to play poker full time. I decided rather than to play for a living straight off the bat, I would do some experimenting with my game on the low limits, now that I have the time to put in some serious effort.
The bankroll challenge is there just to offer some structure rather than randomly trying things out. I have no target to meet; just to grow it as big as possible by the end of the year.

There's always something new to learn in this game.

When will it occur to you (as in everyone who posted a link to their blogs in this thread) that nobody cares, whatsoever? Who has the time to read through someone else's long-winded attempt at turning $110 into $10,000? I built my $4500 bankroll from $60 in about a month and a half. I didn't document it in a blog because there is no level on which that's not mind-numbingly boring to read about...

Wow...this is funny...I just started a site a week ago documenting my trek to go from $10 to $10,000 in a year for the 2007 WSOP...I will post it below, and I think I will start a new page on my site specifically for anyone doing something similar, with links to everyones pages to generate more traffic...so anyone who wants to link my page with theirs, and vice versa please email me or reply to this post...or better yet, sign into my guestbook on the site!!

Because it sets a precedent. And then people who have blogs with ads post them. There are plenty of places to post your blogs for people who want to read them. You can even link it in your profile and write "BLOG IN PROFILE" in your location. troutblogs is there for everyone who wants to post their blogs.

Are there innocent cases of people saying "hey, $50 on stars for $50 on party"? Sure, but someone ruins it for everyone. And I have read numerous posts of people spamming blogs with big ads in the top and this and that and it just clogs the forum up.

15 outs if I can be sure I'll see the flop and the river, I'm a slight favorite to almost any hand except a set, even then I'm still 45% ish to win.

Pushing here works. I wouldn't have raised all-in if I thought they would fold. With 15 outs and being fairly certain that hitting any would win the hand for me, I'm feeling good about doubling up here.

Why I posted the "they dont fold draws or top pair" in the prelude, I'm talking about making money off of these guys because they will call HUGE pot bet with nothing but a flush draw or gutshot.

Oh, and people posting "Why bother? Why post these hands? It seems like tedious work."

Yes, it can be a pain going through key hands for each session. I do it, because its fun. It helps me play better, helps others play better and I do have a link to full tilt so it will help make a little money too. It's a win/win for everyone.
