Poker Boom With UK Regulation
With the UK regulations coming into full effect in less than two weeks do people expect another poker boom? Are major players entering the maket MGM/Yahoo?

Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
Yahoo has already launched. obg |
Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
the US casinos aren't entering the UK online market....at least not MGM.

Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
Has anyone heard why U.S. casinos aren't attempting to enter the U.K. market. I suppose they might be worried about protectionist tariffs in retaliation for the U.S. legislation from last year.

Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
they will be, first they need a non US facing site like Yahoo does.
This is ALL good news for us really, do you think the UK will sit by and let U S companies run Poker and Sports Betting there while UK companies are barred from the US? Yahoo uses Yahoo.com/uk http://uk.poker.games.yahoo.net/yaho...ity/index.html Same for AOL, they now host sports betting. not live yet but story here: http://www.bookmakersreview.com/c/Ne...g_partnership/ obg |

Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
Of the "major sites" serving the US market (Poker Stars, Full Tilt, Bodog, Ultimate Bet), can anyone confirm which are approved for UK advertising?
I understand Poker Stars is in, Full Tilt is out, have not heard regarding Bodog or UB... any others? |
Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
None of them. Bodog would get in if Antigua gets on the whitelist. Im not sure where FT is located off the top of my head, but several have Kanahawke licenses, and if they get on the whitelist they could.

Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
Are there any British based sites planning on opening September 1st?

Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
how is the yahoo game?
are there a lot of players? and what is this about the poker boom is the market being deregulated? |
Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
Well, I am in the U S, so I do not know. Only the other 'skill' games are available. obg |
Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
Yahoo Poker is part of the Boss Media network, a smaller site currently ranked 12th according to PokerSiteScout. Looks like they have about the same amount of traffic as Ultimate Bet.

Re: Poker Boom With UK Regulation
Swedens Spel is a great example for the US and shows the potential of a fully regulated site. It is one of the top 5 sites while restricting its player pool to Swedish citizens - that is remarkable. It will not suprise me if the British based sites, who will allow players countries where online poker is not illegal, outnumber pokerstars tenfold within 2 years. Very anxiously awaiting what happens starting Sept 1st.

The white list (EU) countries include both Gibraltar and Isle of Man so no need for them to "launch". There are already 4 premier football teams sponsored by online gambling sites, we can expect adverts from early September, before they could only sponsor teams or TV programmes. I still half expect some news from Harrahs given the WSOPE in september (coincidence?) |
