NL10 - Calling a shove with A high

Another situation when (lately) I found often myself: calling shove.

Villain here is a 48/32/2 really LAG: he played fast a lot of hand (too many) stealing often.

PF his hand range is basically a stealing range: so let's say Ax, Kx, any broadway, 89s+.
On the flop I RR what it seems to be a CB: when he just called I put him on a draw (maybe combo).
The turn give me a gutshot so basically I've only 7 outs and I really didn't want to go to a showdown.

Can you check my line?

This is awful. When facing bad, spewy, lags just wait for a real hand and watch them not adjust and try to push you off it. What you're doing here is outspewing him when you should be just playing better hands than him. If you're going to try to resteal then repop him preflop instead of calling, hitting nothing, and committing your whole stack unimproved. If he won't fold to preflop resteals from the blinds then tighten your OOP 3-bet range slightly and take him to valuetown.

Hm I think your pf range is a bit off if he's really 48/32. He could be open raising almost atc in co. raising "Ax, Kx, any broadway, 89s+" is standard here even for most tags.
Therefore I'd 3bet him pre (esp. if he shuts down quickly to 3bets) he can have virtually anything here and can't call your 3bet with most of it.

That said your flop play is ok imo (I'd raise a bit smaller though). But when he calls that flop raise you have like a psb left (any bet commits you...) and I really doubt he'll fold much on the turn that he called the flop with (Kx,Qx, maybe even a fd will call).

Outspewing is the new outplaying.

you're really trying to tell him your hand is better and he really doesnt want to understand. just give up.

Why? ATs, JTs are all hands in his range.

Ok, so basically i misuse a resteal: if he's a thinking player he will fold a pure/semi bluff, will call with a potential good hand a reraise/shove with his best hands.

So are K7, K8, K9, KT, KJ, KQ, AK, QT, QJ, AQ according to you. So that's, what? 5-1? So why are you putting him on a draw when his range is dominated by pairs here (again, if we're trusting your read)?

fold preflop... this is just really really really bad spew.

Once you make that C/R on the flop and are called, you need to shut down. His range tightens substantially although it may include some draws it is heavily weighted towards obvious pairs. Making the 5$ bet on the turn just gave him money.

don't like flop or turn. pf is ok i guess as you can stack him often enough with just aa

It's NL10, a lot of villians never fold if they have any piece of the flop. If you put him on Ax, Kx on the flop he's either got you outkickered or has a pair, which he isn't going to fold.

Fold preflop is the best play imo

I think a re-pop pf is a good line, if he is folding to 3bets. As played c/f turn.

Re: NL10 - Calling a shove with A high

I hate Ax out of position against lags. Fold the flop, checkraise him next time with something more likely to improve (2 overs, flush/straight draw opportunities). I only like the cr if ur pretty sure it'll make him fold about 3 out of 4 times.
As it happened, after the call of your checkraise, shut down and c/f turn.
