Joe Torre - Hall of Fame?

When will Joe Torre be elected to the Hall of Fame? He has had very good playing and managing careers but I am not sure how 'combo elections work'?

Thank you,

Jim Kuhn

He'll prolly make it for managing the Yanks to those rings, but I don't think that should matter. Joe Torre doesn't have the same impact as say a guy like Lasorda or Anderson. Don't think he makes it in.

Definite Hall of Fame. He's number eight all time with wins as a manager; everyone in the top eleven is either active or in the hall already. That, plus six pennants and four World Series wins.

He's a shoo-in. 6 pennants, 4 World Series wins, top ten in all-time wins, plus his playing career which featured an MVP season and a batting title, plus his influence in the formation of the players union.

All-time post season wins leader.

Disclaimer: He did get to manage the yankees to 12 str8 postseasons the very same season they expanded the postseason to 3 rounds... but still.

He should have made it in as a player.

Not quite. This is the Hall of FAME we are talking about, not the Hall of Very Good.

Huh? There's a question? I hate the Yankees with a passion, but there is zero reason this is even close to a question. He's got one of the best coaching resumes ever, plus add on 9 All-Star appearances and an MVP as a player on top of all of that.

What next? Pedro? Is he in? I mean he's kinda whiny and gets injured.

You're right. For all of the relievers Torre has burnt out, he hasn't come close to destroying as many young arms as Lasorda.

Torre has destroyed less hookers than Lasorda also.
