It was a decent match when you consider the styles of the teams involved. Lots of big men smashing each other at the breakdown and the little men kicking the ball heaps.

Obviously running freeflowing rugby is generally more entertaining for viewers who aren't die hard rugby fans. One day we'll see something like Fiji vs Australia (yeah, I'm biased) in the final and it'll be amazing.

It was a bad match from the point of view of the outsider looking in, in that there wasn't massive amounts of attacking play to excite them. The seasoned spectator could pick up on multiple occasions of excellent defence, tactical kicking, etc etc.

But yes, that was rigged, Cueto scored a perfectly good try

Looked like English guy was NOT in touch when he pushed the ball over the line ( he did, didnt he?) because he lifted his foot up just before he went over the line.

Still, South-Africa was the better team and deserved the win.

Really failed to see why it was not given, his foot was in the air as it went over the line,and don't think his knee touched it. Felt pretty bad for England which takes alot for me. The game changed after that.

He doesn't need to go "over the line" his foot only needs to "touch" the line for him to be out.

I think it was the right decision.

With that said, I personally hate video ref'ing in rugby and would be fairly confident that with out going to a man upstairs to watch that incident 10 times in slow-mo the touchy and the on field ref would have awarded it.

Thats what the op was saying, he raised his foot just before it would have touched the line so it should have been a try although his knee may have touched the line as he grounded the ball.

England were lucky to even be in the final. If the ref wasn't rigged in the All Black vs France game, England would clearly have been pummeled by NZ in the semis. That was some clever rigging though, less obvious that an infinite AF on the river.

I think England played fine, and actually dominated the field play, but sucked at the lineouts and scrum. anyone thought the ball was bouncing really weird the whole game (not to anyone's favour, it just bounced....weird).


I agree that points for penalties should be turned down some, and tries turned up some. Drop goals are probably fine to leave.
