OT cross country trip, need your help
can't get into too many details, sorry . But basically if I don't make a pilgrimage to Seattle I will lose my entire bankroll 12k or so (el oh el). So once school ends (Dec 3rd) I am renting a car and gogogoogoging. It is possible that I will end up living and going to school whenever I get to where I am going (el oh elx2) (once again have to be somewhat sketchy on details ) anyway if you guys know
1. Any cool places I can go on my way that would be awesome , additionally I can take a different route if need be. 2. Any cool ideas to get me prepared for my trip 3. If any 2p2ers wanna have lunch or something I think that would be great, I met several 2p2ers in july they can vouch I am not a creep 4. Any casinos on the way would be cool. I will prob think of more stuff but thats all for now. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...rnsLOL/map.jpg |
Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
Don't they switch over to Kelvins in North Dakota in December?
|
Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
Your route takes you a little north of them but the black hills are beautiful.
|
Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
It looks like you won't be far away from Caesar's Indiana. Also, if you feel like heading further north in Ohio, I would definitely meet up for lunch. My family has a kick ass restaurant in Bowling Green.

Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
That route would make me want to kill myself.

Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
Stay south to KC, take I70 to I15, US93 to Vegas, 395 to Reno, I80 to the Bay Area, then backtrack a little bit and up I5.

Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
Al,
You're going right past where I live. PM me if you want to meet and hear about where the casinos are in MN. If you let me know far enough in advance when you'll be here, maybe I can get some other 2+2ers together for a home game while youre here. |

Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
Why exactly do you lose 12K if you don't go to seattle?
Also, if you insist on driving through the great nowhere of the northern states, stop off and see yellowstone. Amazing. |

Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
Al, unless you're searching for the Northwest Passage, this is a terrible route.
And if you insist on taking this course, don't stop in Gary Indiana. Trust me on this. |
Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
You're crossing the wrong country. If you ever cross Australia, meet you in Brisvegas.
|
Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
Take the Southern Route. That way, you could hit up Arizona (Grand Canyon, Slacker, etc.), Vegas and Reno on your way up to Seattle. Texas is a bit of a drag, but whatever.
I lived in Seattle for 5 years a long time ago. Nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there again. Good luck on your "Go West Young Man" adventure. Slacka |
Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
+1 to yellowstone, it's a completely different experience in the winter.
That time of year, pack an emergency blanket and some candles. I lived in Minnesota for a while, a single candle can save your life if you get stranded in freak weather. |
Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
It took Al two weeks to get from West Virginia to Vegas by train. Over under on length of this trip?

Re: OT cross country trip, need your help

Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
1. You live in West Virginia?
2. Stop in Bloomington, IN and hang out with TheNoodleman he's very bored I'm sure. Pick up Noodleman and go to Minneapolis. 3. Stop in Minneapolis and go to Canterbury casino, then hang out with McShove, dropping off TheNoodleman so they can road trip down to Austin. 4. Go fly fishing in Montana, it should be great if you don't freeze to death. I've taken this route across country, and it's pretty boring, which is why it was the route home haha. You gotta go to Mt. Rainier in Seattle, as well as St. Helens, but there isn't much in between Minneapolis and your final destination. Good luck with your trip, make sure to get an iTrip or something similar so you don't blow your brains out. |

Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
Mt. Rainer and St. Helens are very cool places. Unfortunately I think the main roads going thorugh those places are closed during winter. I could be wrong tho.
Also, obv come up to Ann Arbor and check out a hockey game here. Or just hop over now since windsor is only 45 ish mins away. duty free alcohol ftw. |

Re: OT cross country trip, need your help
If you take that route, It's in snow/black ice country the whole way. I will increase by a ton your drive time, and if weather hits could easily triple it. go south young man, go south.
when you get there, stay for 6 months, THEN take a northern route back. stray into canada a couple times etc. Also, if yer gonna go for adventure, ditch the rental car idea and buy a cheapo car. the rule is it can cost no more than the rental car charge woulda been. then, rule is you start off on the journey right away. no test runs, no tweeking. New tires if the ones on it are terminal is permited, but only if there is no discernable tread or there are significant cracks. If yer a nitty sorta guy you can change the oil. Have a good trip. |

At first I honestly thought that by "Cross Country Trip" you meant "Cross Country Skiing". And I was so proud of you.
