They be raising my cbetz :(

Pahud was taking forever to load so I wasn't sure his exact stats at the time, but he was opening a ton and was splashing around a good amount. I had just recently sat and the first hand in the BB I squeezed his CO raise after the SB called and they both folded.

Good/bad? FWIW even though I wasn't aware of his stats I'd seen his name around and I'm pretty sure he is a regular.

i'd like it better against a min raise but its not horrible. wouldn't do it often in this spot tho just cause people hate folding overpairs.

i don't think this is going to work. why would he call preflop and then plan to make a play on a 442r flop if he's halfway intelligent?

Works fine against bad players.

To me this looks like JJ/TT just wanting to commit and not give you free cards. I tend to find that in these spots bigger raises usually means that they have a hand while a min raise can be a bluff..

Re: They be raising my cbetz :(

If he's in any way decent why would he be raising this flop given both your lines and his impression of you so far?

I like playing back at ppl who mess around on boards like this but I don't like just shoving here given stack sizes as I don't see him folding often. But I would float this guy in a lot in a single raised pot IP.

I dont think he's folding enough.

this is really bad, check the flop. Hes never folding here imo, unless this guys the biggest retard this cant be a value shove either

i do not like.

however, i'm not sure of a better line. anybody? i think c/f sucks, but c/c leaves you open to getting barreled (not sure how often he would though), c/r might be ok, b/f is annoying if you think he's splashing around too much but it's probably the best bet given your limited info/read, and b/c is not good.

i guess b/f.

It makes a world of difference to have a solid read on the opponent. Doing this to a random regular that u barely know is pretty bad. There are a few ppl where this move can be very good.

I'd rather crai instead if he takes stabs at all.

The vast majority of the time that this works it's because you had the best hand. I'm really not to wild about it against an unknown, even if you suspect he is a regular.

Re: They be raising my cbetz :(

I'd like it more if it was more of battle scenario, but your reads of the flow and opponent really dont seem good at all.

Re: They be raising my cbetz :(

he's getting over 3 to 1 to call your all in. Looks like he thinks your fos and is calling with all overpairs. If he had the AK or whatever better hand you could theoretically make fold, he would have raised the flop more or just folded.

To be clear, I'm not trying to get him to fold any pair. He isn't raising 88 to fold to my shove, but I think it's very unlikely that he is raising that hand on the flop to begin with.

i hope you understand that if you think he's bluffing a lot, it'd make a [censored] of more sense to call the flop and c/c the turn ai and if he checks the turn, open shoving the river

He is probably never ever bluffing again after I call the flop. If he is bluffing and I call, it also gives him a free card when the pot is huge already, that's a pretty costly mistake.

mis-read history and didn't see it was a 3bet pot. I think a CRAI > 3 betting the flop. I don't like your line unless villain does this a lot.

no... no it's not. he has like, what, 6 outs?

and if he's never bluffing after you call the flop then the hand becomes very easy. just call. he won't bluff, and he is going to put you most of the time on an enormous hand, so even if he has 99/TT/JJ it's extremely possible that he will check back the turn and fold to a river shove.

Sometimes this may be correct, but if it is I would typically cold-call AQ pre. No-one else can tell you if this is the right play.

I like this alot, I don't understand the hate it's getting.

Most players are incapable of raise/calling JJ- on this board. Not to mention that QQ+ probably just calls the flop bet a large % of the time. He has air a ton here methinks.

I prefer this with AK. It's not terrible...but I don't love it. His raise was somewhat large, so I'm just inclined to let it go at that point.

LOL at preferring this with AK theres literally no difference other than a QQ type from opponent.

The difference isn't huge, but there definitely is a difference between AQ and AK here, particularly if he can raise/call this flop with AK, which some players definitely are capable of (I am, for one).

Time for results, villain insta-folded.
