\"Weed\" posts

So in MTTc lately there has been tons of posts relating to weed and bongs and being high and such. I really don't see the need for it and I generally try to squash it. As harmless as some people think it is, it is illegal still (rightfully or not) and should I be squashing this and handing out temp bans and warnings for overtly drug related posts and references? Or am I just being a nit wanting to?

I think that would be absolutely crazy. Why do we care? As long as 2+2 isnt held liable for anything, and I dont see why it would, let it be.

I can't believe Mason wants discussion of illegal drug use on these forums.

I asked this question when I first became a mod, the answer at the time was a mixed response (I dont recall who said what, this was ages ago now). At the time we could not facilitate usage or purchase, but we can allow discussion. Personally I'm with Dynasty on this, but we have allowed it within reason in B&M so far and of course this is a common enough discussion in BBV/OOT.

But since the discussion is in MSNL I think its fine to squash discussion if you think thats best Jurillo, after all its not relevant to the forum topic.

yeah if it's OT just tell them to keep it in the [censored] thread (you guys have one right?)

my policy: talking about smoking it GENERALLY or trip reports is fine...asking where to find it or anything serious about harder drugs (ie 'WHO WANTS TO GO DO SOME BLOW IN VEGAS THIS WEEKEND') is a nono

Well then should we remove 1/2 of BBV4lfe because I doubt mason wants that content on the site.

also, its not illegal in all parts of the world. In canada, its about as much of a criminal offense as is speeding. Just because something is illegal somewhere does not mean it should be blocked form the site.

Online poker is illegal in my state (Illinois). I still think I should be able to read about poker! I can then make my own decision on whether or not I want to partake in those activities.

I don't think we should overly push our morals onto the user community. If things are debatable I thing we should lean towards leniency. Not posting toward Jurollo but just stating my opinion in general. FWIW - I think weed is no worse than alcohol and probably much less so. Nobody has ever died from smoking weed.

Re: \"Weed\" posts

ElD,

Sorry to disappoint you! Should alcohol also be considered 'a gateway drug'? I don't like any laws that take away our personal freedoms. If people want to take drugs in their own home - let them. If they want to snort drano and drink gasoline - let them.

Just kidding....... but I think weed should be legalized for consumption in your own home. I agree harder drugs should be cracked down upon. The government utilizes too many laws as a tax on the middle class. If you are middle class you often pay a heavy fine but the poor get off with probation.

Thank you,

Jim Kuhn

No way. Banning a topic of discussion because of your personal preference on it is awful. If you stopped modding and the next mod of your forum didn't like alcohol, you think he should be able to stop discussion of alcohol because he doesn't like it?
