Admo played yesterday and if he was still in would not play until tomorrow, Day 3. However, if you read the Day 2A thread you'll find that Admo did bust yesterday.

Will 2B play for the same amount of time as 2A, regardless of the number of players left? I realize it's unlikely that 2B would get below 260 players, but is it possible they could burst the bubble today? Or would they stop play before that?

they said yesterday that they were going to play down to the exact #. Bursting the bubble today would be incredibly unfair to anyone who bubbles today. Bubble will burst tomorrow.

They'd play down exactly to the bubble, or exact number of players from 2A?

Would bursting the bubble today be incredibly unfair to those bubbling today? Or would it be more unfair if the players from 2B got to go to day 3 playing for less time than the players from 2A?

They will play for the exact same amount of time that 2A did. Relative fairness, split fields cause inherent problems.

theyll play down to the exact # as yesterday: 350. 549 are paid, so they will eliminate 199 more on day 3 before the money.

I think if they did it the other way it would be more unfair to the group that doesnt get money, the people who busted today.

According to the Pokernews reports, they'll play exactly the same amount of time that they did yesterday:

Tournament Info

Tournament staff have just informed us that we are likely to get down to 350 players before the end of the fifth of today's levels. If that occurs, players tomorrow will finish at the same time as players finish today. This is to ensure that players receive equal playing time before the field is joined as one.

Playing both days for the same time (instead) just make it seem like the two days of day 2 was actually just 2 different rooms. They start and end at the same time as if it were the same day. They're doing their best to simulate having enough room for everyone.

[/ QUOTE ]

There was no need to stop the day early.

You know they could have just paid attention to who and exactly when someone was busted out once day 2A got below the 350 level, and done the same for day 2B.

If the final combined day 2 field ended up in the money, they could have figured out who at the end of both days busted out late enough to make it into the money.

Horrible idea.

Players busting out late day 2A would not know if they are "on the bubble".
Players on 2B would have that knowledge.

uh, no, because then day 2B people get an unfair advantage.

they play the exact same time, btw. and there will be more than 350 remaining.

ESPN probably has something to do with it also, as they like to film the bubble, which they can't do if the bubble bursts at some unknown time that they have to figure out retroactively.

Ok, then how about making the end of day 2 the bubble, anyone who makes it to day 3 is in the money.

Sure the number in the money will be a bit more or less than the planned 621, but it should be easy to adjust the payout schedule for that and everyone knows when the last level of the day is going to end.

OK, I finally figured it out.

Since 45.25% of the total field played on 1a, 1b, 2a, 45.25% of the "in the money" players should come from day 2a. That would be a day 2a figure of 281 out of the 621 total in the money. The rest would come from 2b.

That way both days have a definite bubble to play to, and they can play through the bubble each day.
