Gap \"Left Weave\" Jeans

I needed a new pair of jeans, so I went to the GAP last week (NYCs no tax on clothes week). They have [censored] up everywhere for this "Left Weave" jean. WTF does it matter if it's woven left or right? Is this just another stupid gimmick, or am I missing something here?

According to their website, left-weave jeans are more comfortable.

Bad link sorry

"This spring, Gap reveals a whole new side of denim. And the result will be the softest jeans you've ever worn.

Left Weave Denim, the latest innovation in denim from Gap, is available in limited quantities in stores this spring. Normal jeans are constructed by weaving denim fabric from the right hand side, which leaves the fabric feeling stiff and rugged. Left Weave alters the diagonal direction of the twill line in the denim fabric and changes the weave direction from right to left. Left Weave Denim also uses ring spun yarns to create a stronger, yet softer fabric. The result? Much softer feeling jeans and a noticeably better drape. You'll feel the difference the first time you wear them — they've got that worn, comfortable feel the minute you put them on."

I dress to the left. Will the left hand weave further enhance my bulge?

I like Lucky brand jeans. Comfortable and they look pretty good, and not silly expensive (though not Levi's cheap either).

I feel like Levi's are something you get at a department store. I do not like going into Macy's. This makes getting Levi's very difficult. Plus, I feel like Levi's and Gap Jeans are the same.

I get a lot of my clothes at Gap and never understood why most of you hate it. I got so many people bitching about it once that I decided to consult some girls. They all said shopping at Gap was fine and they liked the things I had bought.

All of you people that are freaking out over the Gap, what is your argument against it?

Like Diablo I support the Levis option. Unlike DIablo I'd also support certain "metro" alternatives. There is a Levis store on Broadway between Houston and Canal.

There's a Gap store on Broadway and 8th or 9th. It's on my way to school and I pass it at least 5x/week. Should I really walk to SoHo to buy pretty standard $50 jeans?

Nope. Here's the bingo.

And to address Evan's Q. WTF does passing it 5x times a week have anything to do with anything? How often do you buy jeans? For me, I only go clothes shopping like 2 or 3x a year, so it doesn't need to be in an ultra convenient location. Should you travel a little out of your way to buy better stuff? I guess that's up to everyone to decide for themselves.

How do they suck more than Levi?
Are you talking about quality or appearance?

I genuinely don't understand how they suck. And girls I've asked about them say there's nothing wrong with them. Can you guys be a little more descriptive?

I hate stuff from GAP because I'm not necessarily trying to look like everyone else between 25-45 years of age. Also, the few things I've had from GAP have sucked in quality. Pay for something better, it will last longer. GAP doesn't even sell their good stuff in GAP, it goes to Banana Republic. I think they sew the dildo in the seat there free, too.

I'd be more interested in hearing more on what the girls say, and who the girls are. But I find GAP to be cheap looking and very plain and uninteresting.

I've been told I am a pretty snappy dresser. The GAP is often good for:

-solid t-shirts
-$40 jeans that fit well.
-boxers, knit hats

And nothing more.

Thanks,

The Gap is fine for a tiny person who likes mediocre clothes.

Their size rangers (for non-tinys) suck and the clothes are all pretty "meh".

There's also the strong risk of you having the same shirt as everybody else, which I personally dislike.

I have lots of clothes from the Gap and they have all lasted fine, especially the jeans. I don't see how jeans can really be of poor quality, denim is a pretty tough material.

As for all of Gap's good stuff not going to Gap, um, wtf? That is a pretty stupid analogy. Does all of Structure's good stuff go to Express because they're both owned by Limited Brands? No, they're different stores.

i read somewhere the method used to create these new "left weave" jeans.

they actually perform surgery to switch the left and right hands of the immigrant child laborers in order to make them.

It's a decent analogy, BR is the higher end of the Gap family, Old Navy --->Gap---->BR. Where Structure is just a crappy mens store bought by a another crappy store that used to only sell Womens cloths.

It is possible to have [censored] jeans. Old Navy, for example. That [censored] will fall apart in a week. I currently have 2 pairs of Gap Jeans that I have had for about 2 years and wear all the time, and have had no quality issues.

Evan,

I agree w/ JBB's comments re: Gap clothes looking cheap and plain.

And onthebutton is pretty much, well, on the button. Gap Inc. makes three lines of clothes. Cheap stuff for their Old Navy stores, slightly less cheap stuff for The Gap, and nicer stuff for Banana Republic.

Also, Evan, I don't think you know what an analogy is.
