Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
Bet flop.

Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
Shouldn't we raise this pf ?
|
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
Yeah, probably: didn't see that the limper was a poster,
About the flop play: I think checking here should be almost standard. |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
I don't like checking the flop because I like to lead here with all my draws and often checking made hands makes me a bit easier to read.
I'm certainly not folding the turn. |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
Bet out on the flop. You almost certainly have the best hand as CO can have any two, and probably raises any ace preflop.
Without any read on CO you can't expect him to bet the flop, so I'm definitely getting a bet in. What do you do on the turn if the flop is checked through? |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
Some things to consider
1. There are no real draws on this board, so your comment about checking here makes you readable isn't important. 2. You aren't only checking made hands, but most of the time air. So a check should not alarm your opponents 3. I didn't even consider folding the turn. |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
Since we didn't raise PF, I don't mind a flop check. We probably have the best hand, the pot is tiny, and I wouldn't mind if CO took a stab at this.
I'm tempted to check/call the turn as well. The pot is still small, so I don't mind giving a free card. Also, I wouldn't be happy if I check/raised the turn becauase I'd have odds to call the 3-bet to try to improve and would then still be tempted to call the river UI because of how I've under represented my hand. So if I check/call the turn, I'm probably donking any river. |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
*grunch*
for me at unraised pot HU i autobet any card to take pot and many player know about it so if i dont auto bet then they think somehing is wrong and i can have good hand. but this hand is special cus villian probably is not so smart (post blind random) so we can play tricky like nix said cus pot is so small that free card cost us almost nothing |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
i would just lead the flop. why do you want to be so fancy when we are OOP against an unknown with a decent but vulnerable hand? he'll either find a reason to call or he won't, but he can't call unless you bet.
edit: and yeah, we should raise pf. |

[/ QUOTE ] He can't call if I don't bet, but he also can't bluff if I bet. All hands with two cards between 3 and A, and that are a lot of hands, can't really call a flop bet. When the pot is this small (just 1BB) gaining a single small bet from a hand that would have folded to a bet otherwise is a huge win and since the pot is so small and there aren't even overcards possible on the turn giving a free card is absolutly no problem. [ QUOTE ] vulnerable hand [/ QUOTE ] Vurnerable? If I'm ahead a huge part of his range is drawing to: 1. runner runner two pair/trips 2. another part of his range has 2 outs (small pp's) 3. another part of his range has 4 outs (gutshot) 4. some part has 5 outs (pair) 5. and a really small part of his range is drawing to 7 outs (pair + gutshot). I even have a (gutshot)redraw against the wheel. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] 1. There are no real draws on this board [/ QUOTE ] lol? [/ QUOTE ] I don't understand why you respond with 'lol?' It looks pretty obvious to me that it's a dry board. |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
hielko, there's a straight draw on the flop and a flush draw on the turn. the guy posted so he could have anything. this board is scarier than an actual dry board like q72 rainbow.

Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
also i sometimes lead this flop and sometimes checkcall and sometimes checkraise. it's a common spot and a good time to vary and mix up your play.
|
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
why didn't you raise preflop?
you didn't give us any reads, so I see no reason to get screwy with tpwk. just lead the flop. since you didn't, why no c/r? this hand is kind of weird. |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
BBB: on the flop the only straight draw is a gutshot straightdraw and there is no flushdraw.
[ QUOTE ] why didn't you raise preflop? [/ QUOTE ] Didn't notice that the limper was in fact a poster. [ QUOTE ] since you didn't, why no c/r? [/ QUOTE ] Because you will lose a huge amount of value versus worse hands and bluffs. |

also i love how every hielko post turns into hielko vs. the world [/ QUOTE ] Dont pick on Heilko. He was trying to induce his opponent into trying to take him off the best hand. I dont really like the play though, because it involves giving too many free cards. Its risky and has no guarantee of working. |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
fantam, i'm not picking on him
hielko and i have both been around a while and yes i know what he was doing, and i don't mind it, as you'll see from my posts |

Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
I typically take a c/c, donk line here. I hate betting here as CO will be betting any pair here and that's about all he can have that you beat and will call a bet.

Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
Fantam, I don't think giving free cards is much of an issue in this hand because we are facing one opponent in a tiny pot.
I think you should just raise preflop and bet the flop. I raise this preflop even if CO is open-limping and not posting. As you played, I would check/raise the flop. I want to get as many bets in now while villan will be more likely to call. Which is part of why I raise preflop. |

Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
Raising preflop and checking an Ax flop would be really fishy, so we agree on that too :P

[ QUOTE ] since you didn't, why no c/r? [/ QUOTE ] Because you will lose a huge amount of value versus worse hands and bluffs. [/ QUOTE ] well I certainly like c/ring this flop more than I like c/ring this turn. At this point, without a read, I'm calling down from here or betting the river if he checks the turn. |
Re: Axs flops TP in small pot
I wasn't planning on C/R the turn either.
Just check/call, check/call, bet river Or what I do more often: check/call, bet turn |
