3. What is the bankroll requirement for playing MTTs? Ring game players have their 300 BB rule of thumb, the MTT equivalent would be minimum 50 to 100 buy-ins (note: includes vig). Accordingly, if you want to play $10+1 tournaments, you would need $550-1,100 roughly to keep yourself ample cushioning to handle variance and keep in mind that many people would argue 100 buy-ins is really necessary. Also, this rule is meant to be applied to freezeout not rebuy tournaments. [/ QUOTE ] QFS (Quoted from sticky). For SNG's I'd check the STT Strategy forum sticky post. |
Re: Bankroll Questions
The $148+2 is pretty soft...
sorry...just goofing...try the 4/180s or the 6.5 45s |
Re: Bankroll Questions

Re: Bankroll Questions
lol thanks yeah i was looking at the 4/180 but i wasnt sure if those were to much. i remember when i first started playing on a $50 onparty... playing $5 sngs lol so dumb

Re: Bankroll Questions
I'd mess mostly with 3/45s as bankroll builders.

Re: Bankroll Questions
are you able to reload w/out it being a big deal? if so, play the 4/180s. if not, try building w/ something liek the 2.20 sats to the $11 on sunday and cash out t$
3/45 are fine as well. or 6.50/9-man sngs |

Re: Bankroll Questions
5.50/27 man and 5.50/45man

5.50/27 man and 5.50/45man [/ QUOTE ] Are these more profitable than the 4/180's? |
Re: Bankroll Questions
for me yes but like everything in poker it depends

[ QUOTE ] 5.50/27 man and 5.50/45man [/ QUOTE ] Are these more profitable than the 4/180's? [/ QUOTE ] They may very well be more profitable tho I doubt it. They run at a much slower frequencey than the 4/180s |
Re: Bankroll Questions
2.20 tourney sat (not sng) to sunday 100k. Runs :25 and :55 on the hour. Take T$ and repeat. 1.20/18 sit and go. Low Risk = Low REWARD It's a slow grind, but with 50 and no reload option that's your only choice. ~loose |
Re: Bankroll Questions
you pretty much need to take a shot with 150.
you don't really have enough buy ins for the 6.50s but if you run semi goot, who knows. gl. EDIT: and by shot I mean play the 6.50s. |

[/ QUOTE ] This is absurd. I started with 50 dollars and practiced fine bankroll management and have been incredibly successful and improved my game throughout. People taking risks on 6.50s are why I destroy people who aren't ready for them. |
Re: Bankroll Questions
you started with 50 dollars playing what?
|
Re: Bankroll Questions
If you played anything higher than .50 cent tournaments and claim to practice good bankroll management than you are an idiot.
|
Re: Bankroll Questions
Oh, sure, I'm an idiot. Let's go ahead and poll the general consensus of this forum about my management and my play and claim I'm an idiot.
OR you can learn a small bit of Kelly Criterion and variance sizes and realize you don't need 100BIs for a 45man SNG. Jackass. |
Re: Bankroll Questions
In regards to bankroll management, no one who plays MTTs can realistically attempt to identify their ROI/winrate/Std. Dev over anything other than a MASSIVE sample size.
The guidelines in the sticky are solid, and will prevent you from going busto - so if you are new, sticking to them will be fine. As with every single one of these threads, it depends on the player. Some people are good enough to play SNGs with 15 buy-ins and take 8 buy-in downswings and be OK. Others need 100 buy-ins. |

Re: Bankroll Questions
I want to be an idiot like MJ's an idiot.
|
Re: Bankroll Questions
Just play whatever u like as long as it is $6.50 or less for now. If your good your roll will build, if not gg. Every game at this level is profitable if you play well.

Is 50 buyins ok? |
Re: Bankroll Questions
If you have a decent ROI, 50 BIs is fine; I'm a nit who plays way under that typically, but starting out I simply grinded 1.10/45 turbos for great profit/bonus whoring.

Re: Bankroll Questions
What games do you play now?
|
Re: Bankroll Questions
Default to 4.40s for SnGs. 10-3 dollar MTTs. This is with a 1100 roll or so.
