Used, they both run around $30k.

Which do you pick and why?

Keep in mind maintenance, insurance costs, gas, etc.

Keep in mind when I mean used, I mean around 45-75k miles.

You can definitely find deals if you look often enough and search deep enough.

I mean, where are you from? Mexico?

As far as maintence goes I think they will be fairly similar. BMW's are fairly notorious for expensive maintenance.

First of all, we're talking used here, and you can get a much more balla used M3 for 30k. Furthermore, Porsches are clearly and indisputably teh ghey. Except 911 turbos, which are totally rad.

Subaru WRX STI. Lol, you are gonna be paying out the ass when stuff starts breaking on these cars. Keep in mind, these are performance cars, and people drive them as such.

Also, what year cars are you talking? And is it the Carerra or the Carrera S? If its just the Carrera, I'd say M3, you get more power for the buck.

Do some more research about the cars and search some of the forums of people that own them. Most of the posters above probably know little to nothing about these cars.

all the people that chose the carrera are obviously only picking it because "oh man, its a porsche!!11!! Porsches are like the best cars ever dud3!!!1!!!!!"

The only Porsches that are worth buying are 911 GT1, 911 GT2, 911 GT3, Cayman S, Carrera GT and 911 Turbo. If you buy a Boxster, Carrera, or Cayanne(sp?)...you're only buying it cause it says "Porsche" on the front.

The M3 is clearly the right choice between the two. Whoever recommended the Subaru WRX STi has a good head on their shoulders.

M3 = baller

I just sold my '02 M3 yesterday so this thread makes me very sad.

For $30k the M3 you will get is going to be way better all around than the Carrera you would get for the same money.

I was driving a Porsche Carrera S this week because my other car was getting repairs done.
I really recommend you to take the Porsche; that car is really great and so powerful and the service of porsche dealers (atleast in germany) is perfect.
