Stars: Flip over your cards!

From BT2

[ QUOTE ]
A while ago the MTT forum got enough support, and stars changed their sunday million structure. Stars has great customer service.

When people go all in before the river, currently stars does not flip the cards over until the end. This is done at many live casinos. However, this is online. It is a pain in the butt to search the hand history, and it is horrible trying to guess what the opponent has.

If you are in support of this change, then voice your opinion here.

I have no idea why this isn't already implemented. There seems to be 0 reasons to not turn over the cards after all-ins.

Re: Stars: Flip over your cards!

They flip cards over for tournaments- for cash games they do not anymore. In live cash games you do not have to show your cards, and stars changed it to this after a year or so at customers' requests. If you played on stars back in 2000 or so, you would have seen some ridiculous all in calls. Like 44 calling allin on a AKKJ suited board. Then 3 or so players (maybe a couple of railbirds, too) would comment on the call making the player feel like the idiot he is. That's a good reason not to display the hole cards in cash games.

Yes, but I would rather have one random player that is prob never gonna show back up at the limit anyways do that then have to have a heart attack every single freakin all-in

In Live cash games you can ask to see what the player mucked. The dealer will touch the cards to the muck and then show. Some casinos the person in the hand has to ask, others anyone at the table that was dealt in can ask to see them.
Ive seen guys grab the cards out of the dealers hands and throw the cards down so people couldnt see....Then they get thrown out

Can you have suspense with ingnorance (ignorance of your opponent's cards)? To me, all-ins are quite silly not knowing what the other player has. Much more fun to know what you're up against. The board cards don't mean anything otherwise until they ship the chips one way or the other.

Yes, I'm well aware of the IWTSTH rule. The point is, in live cash games, you do not have to show your cards during the hand for any reason. Upon completion, if someone wants to see the hand they are allowed to, but this was put into place as a means to prevent collusion, which is why at all sites you are allowed to see the hand via the HH.

Id much rather see the cards when you get all in personally... Drives me crazy not knowing what Im trying to dodge

DoGGz 08-10-2007 11:36 AM

Re: Stars: Flip over your cards!

Everytime I get asked to show my cards when mucking a losing hand in a cash game, I ask why he thinks I'm colluding. After pulling a Lisandro like act, I go the rest of the evening being able to muck without people asking. It's nice.

MrHouston 08-10-2007 11:54 AM

Re: Stars: Flip over your cards!

Since you are always able to see the hand afterwards in the HH, I don't see why people who were in the hand don't see the cards right away. I do agree with getting rid of the anticipation/stress with not knowing if your opponents hit their cards. And that pregnant pause when you don't know where the chips are going to get shipped to. You have to wait that 2 extra seconds when they are deciding whether to muck or not.

I understand see why they don't show everybody, since Stars is against data mining. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I do understand it being consistent with their stance on giving the information to spectators.

But show the cards to those IN THE HAND since they are going to be able to see it after the hand is over anyways.

I actually like not being able to see them, just because I always am really pleasantly surprised when the ace, 3rd heart, etc hits but I win the pot anyway.

FTP shows, and there are probably even more idiot calls there then are on stars, I really think the instant gratification a caller gets on picking off bluffs encourages looser calls

Stars...please flip the cards

I deal with the suspense by minimizing the table and not looking til its over. Of course, I do the same thing in tournies when I can see the cards...

i can see y they do it the way to do and i think flipping them over would discourage the donks and that's not really a good thing...

still, i like screaming for which cards i want/don't want as the hand unravels...still, i don't mind it the way it is if it does seem to encourage more stupid plays

tautomer 08-10-2007 11:29 PM

Re: Stars: Flip over your cards!

Keep it how it is. If you have to reload, you probably lost. And I don't want dataminers to gain any more info than they already have. Unfortunately some don't care much for rules and gain an unfair advantage.

Re: Stars: Flip over your cards!

I play mostly PLO now so I just assume every card helps the opponent no matter what anyhow and it would be too convoluted trying to figure it out on the fly face up to matter.

If stars could implement a "show players dealt into the hand only" feature I'd be more on board. There are times I dislike having to go back and look to make a note on the opponent, but I don't think the rail should get the same benefit.

railbirds and dataminers shouldn't be able to see mucked hands. that's all there is too it really.

Plenty of suspense, just sometimes wrong.

Hand I had last week, getting it in with 88 on an 843 2 diamond board.

Also, fish like the gamboool. There's not much gambooling excitement the way it is now. It's like picking your horse in a race, closing your eyes, then 2 minutes later they tell you if you won or not. Not nearly as much excitement as watching your horse run around the track.

I play on both Stars and Full.

I love Tilt's method better.
More fun and you can advertise your pushes with combo draws.

The fish not involved in the hand will never see the bluffs by reading Star's text hand history window.

Re: Stars: Flip over your cards!

Flip the cards please!

I go into heart attack mode every time I'm all in. At least showing the cards I know where I stand in the hand.

twoblacknines 08-13-2007 04:27 AM

Re: Stars: Flip over your cards!

Seeing the cards flip up gives it more of that tourney feel and definately increases the gamble. And like someone else said so much easier to advertise bluffs or light calldowns.

Not to mention the life expectancy I will gain from not having near heart attacks when flushes hit in $1000+ pots.

Flip the [censored] cards stars!
