Help Settle a Debate

The scenario is a 2500 buy-in with 55 participant. Ten players at the final table. Average chip stack is 110,000. Blinds are 2,000 and 4,000 with 400 ante.

It's folded around to the button who raises to 17,000, he has 90,000 in chips. You are in small blind with 28,000 after posting the small blind. You find A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. What do you do? and Why?

Other things to consider: Big blind has about 70,000 in chips. The payout structure from 7 to 10 is flat for $2,700, then it gradually goes up to $42,000 for first.

shove you have AT with 7bbs vs a button opener and are getting a good price. maybe if there were some extreme shorties you should fold.

Is it even worth discussing? Imo it's a nobrain shove.

Well, we would be risking our tournament life on a drawing hand if we go all in here. And all those saying shove aren't even stopping to put the man (button) on a hand.

The villain has a less than average stack and he now has the opportunity to bully too short stack in the blind when we are on the bubble. His range is wide and we need chips so we shove.

The 4 x BB is interesting and depends on a read. Some people bet this to steal or bet less to trap. Others reverse this. Good players stick to one or mix it up a lot. Without a read though ignore it and shove.

the big raise is the only thing that makes this somewhat confusing, think its a pretty clear push anyway though.

The button is raising with a VERY wide range of hands here to steal blinds. There's ten players left and the next pay jump is at 7. We obviously need to make some moves to even get there and we have his range CRUSHED here with AT. like i said, ez shove

Kind of hard to stop and go when calling the initial raise is over half your stack.

the best part was that somehow this was a "debate"

Re: Help Settle a Debate

I voted push. Stop and going might be better cause live players might fold the flop getting 5-1. Then they would say "jacks?" and you spit your beer on the table.
