$100 NL Ugly Kings

I've been really active recently, raising a lot of pots (especially when BB limps, which he's done a lot) and betting a lot of flops and I've also bet the turn a lot when called on the flop because they've only called me on the flop when I actually had a strong hand. I've also given up pretty much every time that someone has played back at me.

I would usually fold this on the flop (yes?), but I thought it was more likely than usual he was testing me with a pocket pair or a 9 or flush draw. I was planning to fold if he made a big bet on the turn, but then he bet small and I decided to call. I was planning to fold to a big bet on the river, but then the ace came and suddenly one card beats me instead of 4.

I'm still unsure about every street here. Fold the flop? Fold the turn? Raise turn to see where I'm at? Fold river?

Stack sizes:
Hero: $275.42
UTG+1: $100.10
CO: $194.35

BB checks, Hero bets $6, Button folds, BB raises to $12, Hero calls.

Turn: 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($33.5, 2 players)

Looks perfect to my untrained eye

I raise to $3.50 preflop or $4. $3 is a bit weak.

I check the flop a lot. Actually I probably check the flop always.

I would generally check this flop.

When I check the flop, what often happens is that it checks around and then BB bets the turn. What do I do then? He could just be betting a pocket pair or anything because the flop checked around or he could easily actually have an ace. Or he could be running me into the guy behind me with an ace. I really have being caught in the middle and not knowing what is going on.

What would you do on this flop w/ AK?

bobbyi,

If I checked flop, I'd call turn

Duerig,

Yeah, I'd bet flop with AK, but I wouldn't with A2

Why? And how do you respond to a PSB?

Redd, because it is difficult to get called by worse hands.

If it gets checked around and BB bets turn, I fail to see the problem with this..

nh. I also usually check the flop, then will definitely call the turn if bet into. As played I am never folding to the flop minraise.

Rest of the hand is perfect. Nice river.

I check this flop a good % of the time, even maybe 25% of the time with AK. In both cases, you don't want lower PPs to fold the flop.

I sometimes fold to the flop raise. As played, though, I don't think I could find a fold on the river.

So that TT-QQ will bet, when they would otherwise fold. Standard WA/WB play.

As to the PSB, depends on the player. Some only ever bet pot, so I would not worry about the bet size.

I'm very new to NL, so I'm afraid I don't really know many of the the standard plays yet. I'm familiar with WA/WB from limit, but couldn't we maintain better control of how big the pot gets if we're the ones doing the betting? This seems like it would be a big priority for someone who's WA/WB.

Hey, I don't see that why check this flop with 3 opponents. Could someone explain to me? Thank you.
