I looked him up on the hendon mob database a while ago. His total tournament winnings are miniscule compared to any conservative estimation of his career entry fees. AFAIK, the only reason he eats is because he grinds low limit cash games, or makes it all up with his book sales. The other possibility is that he has an extremely favorable deal with whoever backs him.

I lasted about 1 minute 22 seconds of viewing. Tom should NEVER go on television. This was a terrible idea, .... Hey, I am a World Champion who is so uninteresting I want you to see my toy dragon collection .... CHRIST, he is not 50, he acts about 8.

Me and some friends play this free tourney at a local bar with first place getting bartab. The other day when we came in, there were fliers everywhere about some sort of weekend camp at like... the Hard Rock I think, but might have been elsewhere, with this Tom McEvoy dude's picture on it. Apparently he was going to be teaching you how to be awesome at poker, because he's a world champion and notable author, etc etc etc. I don't remember the cost, but it was pretty pricey. I think like 1Kish or so.

I remember hearing an interview with him a while ago where he not only mentions that Kathy Leibert is his girlfriend, but does so several times, to the point of sounding creepy about it.

McEvoy is 62. He is divorced with kids and apparently has had girlfriends since his divorce.

As far as I can tell he was a typical nitty ABC low/mid limit grinder before winning the WSOP and that he remains. His tournament style is similar to the stereotype for players of his age. He apparently makes his living from books, his Stars contract, and grinding low/mid stakes.

Remember the 2006 ME when ESPN shows him getting pwnd by a loudmouth guy with silver hair? I sat next to that guy (Pat something) at a local tourney at the hustler and he couldn't stop telling that story. And he extremely loud the whole time. I can imagine McEvoy must have been on a slow burn the entire table.
