*** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

Well, I had a question and we've needed to start a new thread on this, so I'm going to kick October off. I need to pick 2 RB's. I just grabbed Ward off of waivers.

Larry Johnson
Cedric Benson
Derrick Ward
Deangelo Williams
Ernest Graham

Yahoo recommends starting Ward over Benson. I wasn't originally going to, but now I'm contemplating it.

Need to sit one of these 4 WRs (pt = 20 yds, 6 for td)

Impossible to do right now. This heavily depends on who is healthy and playing, which is probably gonna be impossible to decide before tomorrow or Sat. If Jacobs is healthy and going to get 50% of the carries go with him, otherwise go with Ward. Maroney will probably be a gametime decision again

Re: *** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

Wow, I'm getting Ernest Graham votes too...I think I'm against him due to A) Indy and B) not 100% sure how he and Pittman will share time.

Re: *** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

Maroney if he's healthy.

I think we should do 1 of these topics each week. It's makes alot more sense given how important matchups are in these decisions. Also, this way you can just skim the topic and it should answer alot of questions for you.

Would dropping Jeff Wilkins and picking up Gostkowski be premature? Wilkins has been really [censored] so far, and while Gostkowski doesn't get a lot of FGAs, he makes the ones he gets and gets a lot of PATs.

Re: *** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

Gastkowski is averaging 2.5 more points per week in my league. So A) he's scoring more points but B) the difference really is neglible week to week. With that little a difference, pick the one you think has the better matchup.

I just looked at last season's Yahoo points total. The difference between kicker #1 an #12 last season was 2.06 points/game. #1 to #24 was 3.18 points. Pretty much shows you how little one kicker is worth over another during the year. Kicker is a great position to play matchups with FA's. If done right, you'll get more points out of multiple kickers than the #1 kicker will score all year.

DKS, thanks dog. I'll probably do just that.

rafiki, I don't know why no one is voting for Crayton but PLAY CRAYTON.

Re: *** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

rafiki,

I'm going Smith/Crayton, Witten, and then watching til game time to decide on Evans or Portis. If Portis is healthy, thats obvious. Evans had a nice game last week but I just don't trust this backup QB(nor do I trust Losman atm).

Yahoo scoring.

Start my RB. Addai banged up, hopefully will play. Benson and TJones sucking, Jordan on bye, and Jacobs possibly just coming back from injury.

At WR, have Housh on bye, not sure what to think of Ferrotte coming in for StL

Re: *** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

Important point: the post I made earlier relates to the league in which I have Travis Henry, if he's banned I obv need another one of those RB's to start and Dayne is no longer an option

Re: *** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

so many of these decisions cant be answered until injury situations are worked out. fwiw, i rate would rate dward very high if hes healthy and playing and jacobs role is still diminished.

Dave, keep an eye on the Morris/Maroney situation. If Maroney sits again I think Morris is an instastart over LJ, but if Maroney is there and the split is in effect go with LJ

I'm in disaster mode in one league. I have Marvin Harrison, Javon Walker, and Santana Moss all injured. Marvin seems to have the best chance to play, but I can't really count on it.

Addai should play. Obv switch him out if something happens before gametime. Not sure how it will work for Henry, I voted Jones because I figured the team would sit Henry or something, if not start him

Re: *** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

Also, assuming that you're in a yahoo league, how important is it to have a kicker? I have a kicker obv but he's bye week (akers.) I really can't afford to drop any of my other players or defenses (i have Minnesota and Pittsburgh)

Spellmen 10-05-2007 10:48 AM

Re: *** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

Ummm, drop Akers and pick someone up. Akers is not an elite kicker so why hang onto and tank 4-10 points. Pick up someone with a favorable matchup

Yeah, there is not a really big difference between a great kicker and a decent kicker. Unless you have an easy matchup this week and REALLY want to keep Akers, drop him and pick someone else up.

Covering Lots of ground with just one post again this week.
Leaugue rules
no PPR
WR/RB/TE:
3pts/50yards recieving/rushing
6pts/TD
QB
2pts/100 yards passing
6pts/TD

I have Palmer as my main QB but he's on bye this week. So should I go with Cutler (my rostered backup), or is there value in dropping him for one of these free agents?

I have a huge match up this week against my boss. We have a nice bottle of liquor and bragging rights on the line. Who do I start? Normal scoring and must start a combo of 2 or 3 for both positions

Re: *** Official Fantasy Football Start\'em/Sit\'em Thread: OCTOBER ***

rigged,

Personally I'm playing Shaun Alexander, Kevin Jones, then the 3 recievers.

Who knows what is going on in Carolina with Foster/Williams, Tatum Bell seems to be slowly losing his role in DET, the health of Jacobs/Ward showing up makes him a tough play still hurt. The only toss up is Jones vs Jones and I think the Giants have woken up on defense.

If you don't hear anything by the time that last minute comes up, I leave Keith in. I think either Addai is out completely or this is just a big smoke-and-mirrors scheme by Indy which seems unlikely.

[ QUOTE ]
The Indianapolis Star reports the Colts will likely err on the side of caution this week regarding "questionable" players Marvin Harrison (knee strain), Bob Sanders (ribs), and Joseph Addai (shoulder/chest).

The 4-0 Colts may be looking at their upcoming bye in Week 6 as a means to get their best players healthy. "If they feel good mentally, (they) will go," coach Tony Dungy said after practice Friday. "But the other guys have practiced all week and if there's any doubt, we'll go with the guys who have practiced."
