**Official Greatest Nintendo (NES) Game of All-Time Tournament**
 

I'm sure there will be many complaints and arguments over games left off the list. Take it up w/ the tournament selection committee.

Seeding was based on:
-Sales. This is a quantifiable base for which to rank games. It will please the widest range here. **Disclaimer** Most of the top-selling games in Japan were NOT included in the list b/c I don't feel they were that widely exposed in the rest of the world and WEREN'T mentioned often in the NES Thread.

-Nostalgic Purpose. By this I mean to include some of the original Nintendo games. Games like Kung Fu and Baseball, which were imperative to Nintendo's early success.

-Top NES Lists from Around the Internet

-The Favorite Classic Nintendo Games Thread

-My Own Personal Bias

LOL, when I looked at that I groaned. It's not a perfect science here, as evidence by Donkey Kong and DK Jr. ending up in the same region. Yet somehow Startropics and Bomberman end playing each other when I'd rather both just go out in the 1st Round.

where are they? this list sucks. jaws? hogan's alley? bad dudes? come on. duck tales was good, but part two? etc.

final fantasy 3 wasn't even released on the nes in the united states.

Also, I never played any of the FF games, so I offer that as my excuse in poor judgment.

Bad Dudes was awesome, even if it wasn't widely exposed. I can only include so many Mega Mans in this tourney.

WTF @ River City Ransom vs Dragon Warrior III in round 1. Two of the ten best games made for the system in round 1?

Not to mention the egregious mistake of putting Final Fantasy III in the bracket, at all. etc.

These seedings make little sense.

i'd argue that it was widely exposed. it was available in arcades and a plethora of home systems, including the c64 and nes. i would also argue that the game was decidedly non-awesome, especially when compared to some other games on this short list. when was the last time you played it to completion?

oh, you're right, I guess I saw TMNT and my eyes glazed over

some of these matchups are brutal. in a few instances i haven't heard of either of the games, and others i'm torn between them. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Is "Baseball" supposed to be Baseball Stars? Baseball Stars was an awesome game back in the day. Designing your own players was so fun....until the cartridge lost all your data.

I think there's some consensus that this bracket was, ah, not particularly well done.

Baeball and Baseball Stars are two different games.

Ice Hockey, DK jr, and Bomberman should not be winning/win at all.

And Kung Fu's not a great game, but it's better than WFRR?

Oh, and I just beat Jaws. Danza, what did you find hard about it?

I think it would not be a terrible idea if a bracket was drawn up by people who genuinely loved these games and don't use stuff like "sales numbers" to seed games and don't call it "Super Techmo Bowl" (how do you screw up the name in two different ways?)
