well it depends on table conditions, but generally if the table is all 20vpip or lower players, I do it (basically every 5-10 game)

A10s and lower is a dog to 20 VPIP and you are OOP.

Axs has a lot of value even UTG. I think there was a big thread on this earlier. Anyone have a link?

Re: toppair with flushdraw againt nit how to play??

In a six handed game I would limp with Axs.

The flop play here is horrible. I'm not sure I'd even lead out in this position, but the push is where my main problem is:

After his reraise you know you're behind. He either has a two pair, straight or a set - possibly an A with a higher kicker but I doubt it. This means he's calling your push with almost always except with only a pair of Aces. Therefore, you're better off taking a card and seeing if you hit one of your outs (flush).

Basically the value in reraise with a flush draw is if it can flod out some of their range, which your reraise can't.

Re: toppair with flushdraw againt nit how to play??

Opening here depends on how likely you are to get repopped. In an agro game I consider folding unless I'm prepared to 3bet. In a passivish game opening with Axs is fine.

Re: toppair with flushdraw againt nit how to play??

i need 42 % equity against him if i push and have no foldequity and his range is AQo, AQs , KJs , TT, ATs i have 35 %. so i dont like pushing vs a nit. i didnt thought abotu it in the hand so call flop and fold ui turn is a good play i think. improved is here only hitting the flush. right??

what about folding?

What's wrong with limping UTG with Axs in a 6 max game?

You shouldn't open limp any hand at all in a 6 max game.

fold PF is definitley the best play...

Briman, open liming is absolutely atrocious.

pokerchap, folding PF isn't "definitely the best play..."
I think raising is best actually...

Re: toppair with flushdraw againt nit how to play??

um fold Axs UTG please.

as played against a 15/11 cold-calling MP raising your flop bet i think you are usually drawing to 9 outs on the flop and have no fold equity so pushing is terrible. it's kind of a small raise so i might peel getting almost 1:3 only need about 1:4 to hit turn and you should be able to get in another decent size bet if you hit.

IMO limping isn't a crime in a 6max game. It gives you higher implied odds and means you don't have to put as much money into the pot with marginal hands so it has its uses. Also, if you limp with a wide range of hands and you find people are raising you then you can limp/reraise your high pairs.

Darkfolder 11-12-2007 08:33 PM

Re: toppair with flushdraw againt nit how to play??

Against a decent player you never have the implied odds you think you have.

[/ QUOTE ]You play $.05/$.10 stakes. Why are you trying to give advice in MSNL? Why don't you take their word for it that it's best to raise. Limping is not best in these games.

Briman51 11-12-2007 10:57 PM

Re: toppair with flushdraw againt nit how to play??

"Why don't you take their word for it?"

Because their word hasn't been justified.

You're pretty much correct - I play $.12/$.25NLH (6max). This is because my bankroll is too small to safely play higher, however, I think my game is good enough to play higher, and posting on a forum above my level is a great way for me to keep thinking about poker and to develop my game. For this reason I find it important that people justify their claims with explainations.

Re: toppair with flushdraw againt nit how to play??

Understandable, but if you open limp utg youre just going to get raised way too often for it to be smart. Either you have to fold to the raise or you most likely find yourself oop with A3s and repping just the kind of] hand you have (reducing your implied odds). This type of stuff will come into play as low as .25/.50 so hopefully thats enough justification

Re: toppair with flushdraw againt nit how to play??

open limping aside, what about a big c/r on this flop? I don't like leading as much, since if you're raised, it's going to be a real hard fold. Personally, i hate the 3bet push here, i'm pretty sure the money almost always goes in behind.

Briman51 11-13-2007 11:27 AM

Re: toppair with flushdraw againt nit how to play??

I agree, c/c is probably the best play here.
