200NL - Playing the leveling game with a fish

SB is 65/20/.86, with a river AF of 5 over ~100 hands.
BB (villain) is 32/.5/1.15 with a river AF of 6 over ~75 hands. He's bet huge on the river when the turn has checked through in a HU pot with me earlier this session (edit: I folded).

Full Tilt Poker, $1/$2 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 4 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter

BTN: $223.65
SB: $169.85
BB: $103.90
Hero (UTG): $339.65

Pre-Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (UTG)
Hero raises to $7, BTN folds, SB calls $6, BB calls $5

Flop: ($21) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB checks, BB bets $18, Hero calls $18, SB calls $18

Turn: ($75) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($75) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB checks, BB bets $78.90 and is All-In, Hero?

Is he bluffing here enough to make calling profitable?

I should add that I've gotten my hand caught in the cookie jar on this table on the 1 double barrel I did and about half of the c-bets I've done so far.

fold

and not on this hand, but stop c-betting at this table after it stops working and you have your "hand caught in the cookie jar"?

What makes you think I hadn't, at this point. I'm not asking for general strategy, I'm asking for thoughts on this hand.

Why not bet the turn? Perfect card for you to rep and it gets you to a free showdown if you want it....

Betting the turn has it's merits, but I'm not sure I need to rep anything. I think I probably have the best hand, although I'm not necessarily confident enough in that statement to VB on the turn 3 way after the flop action.

if u've already established this player as a fish, beware. From my experience i've notice that poor players will often times make huge overbets in prayer of a call. I relate this to A. not realizing its an "overbet" and B. a lot of poor players push because they dont know how to bet or what is considered a normal bet

If it heads up I consider calling but it being 3 way drastically decrases his chances that he is bluffing, so I fold

Bet the turn. They're calling with whatever [censored] they had on the flop, the Ace changes nothing.

Fold river as played.

Why not raise the flop? Half-stack fish probably stacks off with 99 TT 8x 9T and Jx hands we beat.

Re: 200NL - Playing the leveling game with a fish

doesn't he accomplish the same result if he bets the turn? the only difference is that he is effectively calling his shove everytime in this scenario. i mean, the pot is already 75$ if and he bets around 40ish, and someone shoves for another 30, it's pretty tough to just fold. i'd probably play it like you did, and fold to a river shove. it seems sb has J8 or smt like that (you're beat, i guess).

if both players are uberfish, maybe you could get away with 25$ bet =).

sorry but what are you trying to say here?
imo this river is a standard fold with 3 people in the pot! many of thoseŽloose passive players will call the flop with just an 8 and they made trips on the river.

really easy fold.

Re: 200NL - Playing the leveling game with a fish

Snap fold. He's a fish. Of course he would call a flop bet w/ 2nd or 3rd pair. Even if he doesn't have an 8, he may have well been holding A5. Calling is spew unless villain is bluffing all in on checked rivers continuously. And even then I might fold.
