Pot Awarded to Wrong Player... ONLINE!! (Pacific)
 

My dad is a casual micro-micro stakes NL player who just had a pot awarded to his opponent with the losing hand! WTF?! I prob played close to 500K hands and never once experienced something like this (although I don't play on pacific poker).

Dad's email to pacific:

At about 11.36 pm Pacific time on July 25/2007,(Eastern time 2.36 am on July 26), I played at table Bahia Cooler NL 1c2c and was holding pocket Jacks when the board had a pair of eights. It was wrong that the pot $1.90 was given to the looser Vbopp holding AK only. Hand #2074484024

Pacific's response:

Dear xxxx,

Thank you for contacting 888.

First of all, I truly apologies for the clear error made in the hand you
have provided us with.

I am unsure of why the software will pay the winnings of $1.93 to your
opponent who only had a pair of 8s. Where as you had two pairs of 8s
and Jacks; please note that I have forwarded this matter to the relevant
department to review and work out any hiccups with the software.

In the mean time please accept a credit of $2 to your account for the
inconvenience caused by this error.

XXXX, I hope that this can go some way to prove that at Pacific Poker
we are dedicated to dealing with all issues in the same professional
manner, and that we are prepared to act responsibly and fairly in
judging any issues that are raised.

Obv he doesn't have any poker tracking software. I'll ask though. Can't you just type in the hand history number to see for yourself? (I don't play on pacific FYI)

This is a little disconcerting if you play on Pacific. If it happened once it's likely it has or will happen again.

no we cant type in hand # and look at your HH, but you should be able to request old HH's...

maybe at most another email to Pacific.. say just for laughs you want it etc

This doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I remember plenty of instances in the past where the pacific software would totally [censored] something up, really major bugs like unregistering for a tournament and getting your money back, while still being registered for the tournament, etc.

Pacific poker has serious programming flaws. I remember back in 03' they actually awarded split pots on quad boards when anybody holding an ace would play. I recall blind skipping and nonsense like that. Back when the games were ultra fishy 6+ to the flop at 2/4-5/10 I could put up with the site. But now that the site really isn't much fishier than other sites why play there? my brother who is pretty smart and played on pacific once told me the exact same thing happened to him in a hand. I just assumed he was mistaken or an idiot...but now i kind of wonder.

Yes, ghost images. sometimes it would show 1,2 or 3 cards.

a long time ago this happened to me in a tournament as well, I had a straight and lost to TP
