lol? you're saying a new car will only last 4-5 years?

didn't mean to imply that it would only last 4-5 years, I meant to say that it will only go that long before needing expensive repairs. A new car will obv last much longer than 4-5 years, but in repairs are generally very expensive in German cars because they have been engineered that way. If you check any of the stuff on consumer reports, they generally all say to never buy a German car out of warranty for this very reason.

My '88 735i has about 500k kms on it and is super rock solid and rust-free in northern (road salt aplenty) Canada. It had some electrical problems a few years ago, but other than that it's been virtually maintenance free. Maybe $2k in the last 3 years.

Don't believe everything you read.

(p.s., it's still a suh-weet ride. I can't imagine wanting to trade it for a long long time.)
