Re: Dealing with the \'and then?\' problem

"Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible."

you'll be just fine Gild, and you WILL find your answers. Just asking the questions is good enough for now.

Maybe you could try to take some time and effort away from the focus on yourself and what makes you happy and do something for someone else, like charity or volunteer work. A lot of people get quite a lot out of it in the end, it could be worth a shot.

As for me, I think what will eventually seal the deal as far as my happiness goes is starting my own family... maybe playing catch in the backyard with a son someday. I think something like that could spark the feeling of eternal happiness....

Or banging Scarlett Johansson.

It gets easier as you get older. No young people believe me when I tell them this because they think their youth is so valuable, but happiness studies always show that people get happier as they age, right up to death. What does this mean for you? It means you will get better at it. I don't really have any advice as to what will work for you. Only the knowledge that almost everyone figures it out eventually.

Life is a big party, and you were lucky enough to be invited (by being born). Now get out there and enjoy it!

The ending of Black Swan where Taleb equates your likelyhood of being alive as that of a speck of dust compared to the earth: I liked.

Do things that make you happy and spend quality time with those you love, the rest is just details.
