I've had to sleep in my car a couple of times for whatever reason... I usually plan on getting like four hours of sleep and I just leave my car on the whole time with the AC going

This thread gave me a smile. I did this with some friends in college (late 1980s). I had a conversion van with a couch that turned into a bed in the back, blinds, etc. We did it in the summer. It was MISERABLE. Nothing like waking up at 5 a.m. dripping wet with sweat.

Same trip, played $1 blackjack at Circus Circus and the THOUGHT of tipping the cocktail waitress for bringing us the free beer never even entered our minds. If we gave her $1 dollar every time she brought us a beer, we would soon be out of money!

This thread reminded me of being in New Orleans for 4th of July in the mid 90's. It was a spur of the moment trip as my regular 4th of July plans fell through so I ended up driving 12 hours to New Orleans just because I had never been there and I knew I could gamble there.

Every hotel was booked or super expensive. I was extremely tired at 3AM after not having slept for a day and a half since I drove through the night the previous day. My car was really too small to sleep in. There is a park on the banks of the Mississippi river and every bench was taken by homeless. I ended up curling up next to a tree with about $1,500 stuffed in my shoes and a $22 in my pocket to give to whoever ended up mugging me. Oh the good ole days.

I didn't know sleeping in a car was such a horrible thing! I planned on doing this when I moved out on my own to another state. I planned on buying a mini van (around 2k+) and an airbed (airbed costs $20), plus tilted windows ($75) and putting all that rent money I wouldn't pay in my pocket! I would then proceed to getting a ymca membership to take my showers and eat at taco bell everyday.

But now that I read all you people's comments I feel bad
