I admit that, having lived through a number of similar threads, I did jump too quickly to the conclusion that he was likely to be guilty as charged, and my comments were overly snide in this regard.

I have since apologised to him privately, but I'll take this opportunity to apologise publicly, for not giving him any benefit of the doubt:
