What are people's specific gripes about Will Smith's acting? I understand somewhat the "he plays the same guy" one. Other than that, I have no idea why he is getting all of the hate.

He's a blockbuster machine for better or worse. I don't think them casting Smith was a mistake that will hurt the movies moneymaking ability. And I hardly think he will ruin the movie from an acting standpoint; it's a damn vampire-ish movie.

Had to pick this up and read it. It's more of a novella, so it is a fast read. Highly enjoyable, especially if you like sci-fi or horror.

As you would think from the premise, very existential in nature. You have to wonder how it will translate to a blockbuster type movie with Will Smith. It should make for good seed material for an action flick, but I doubt it will be able to cover the same ground.
