All,

Sorry for my pessimism in this thread. I saw the top headline on msnbc, with the pic and all, and just went: [censored] [censored] [censored] [censored].

I really hope I'm wrong on everything i said here, and that online poker will survive this, improve and prosper!

We've had non-payment of funds from PokerSpot (Cheers Dutch), Lies and cheating from Sunrise not paying out in their big freerolls (remember the hilarious fake firing of employee Walter Rea? No? I do... it didn't stop you playing), Bots at ProPoker (Cheers KGC... maybe you shouldn't have stopped answering my emails), Dodgy share dealing at poker.com (paging CMWings) and whatever went down at skill poker (Yeah Mark Glusing, I remember you still) and I seem to remember CCC poker turned into a giant virus or something.
Oh yes, and Planet's RNG was cracked.
Not to mention the minnows like BigBet and JetSet that just sailed off into the night.

Yes it's pretty big, but some of those were just as big at the time. People want to gamble, they will continue to do so.

Edit before mass panic.

My point exactly, particularly the second-to-last sentence.

If fish's behavior was governed by logic and reason, they would not play in the impulsive way they do. Most of them probably LIVE that way too.

i think this is a good thing, especially if the police investigate properly and charges are laid. it will help disprove the notion that poker sites are unregulated terrorist financers.

There are already so many fish that don't play because they "cant trust it" this is'nt going to ruin online poker but just like the UIGEA it will take away some of the fish.

ABC NEWS: Think Online Poker is Safe? Don't Bet On It.

The article itself if much more about the effort to expose the fraud than sounding the alarm, and is actually quite good, but still bad press.
