Re: Poker finally legalized in Quebec

As someone planning on making his first trip to Montreal within the next 3 months I was really excited to hear this news.

I would hate to have to play on electronic tables so hopefully the $$$ issue between union and casino are worked out by then.

I sent an email (before I found this thread, teach me to not check 2+2 first) to the casino and am waiting to find out what they are planning on spreading and how many tables etc they are anticipating.

Also if it is french only, I expect to see a lot of Umberto Brenes thumbs up'ing and arm gestures (just without sharks), any bilingual folks feeling up to training us anglos how to navigate a poker table en francais?

I have officially spoken with the Casino's Front desk and the official word is it will be on December 18th, not the 15th. The Electronic tables will be available that day. The Dealers are still in a fight with the union because they are having problems with money but are hoping they can come to a conclusion before december 18th. The dealers want more money than the union is offering them.

Is this for Montreal, or Lac Leamy (or both)?

Good for local enthusiasts. But, those will be the least profitable poker games on planet earth. Probably will be mostly geared toward tournaments. Nobody in her correct mind, should go to Canada for ring game action.

Typical Quebec poker players are among the worst players anywhere, so I'm not too worried.
