If you're a real balla, you have markers at at least one casino in LV.

Then you slap down your ID and Players card and say "then thousand on my marker please". Then you get a stack of chips, amazing treatment by floor, and a free BJ from the cocktail waitress.

But they did stop you and ask you what Opie (inside joke) was doing with that much money right? How long were you detained?

The international flight took a few extra minutes at customs on the way back into the US. Arriving in Paris, I declared it and basically just got an extra polite Welcome to France. No delays on that side, at all. Ditto London.

Domestically, going to Vegas, had it caught with absolutely no issue at all. domestically going to NYC, had it caught and got sent into the extra security screen, but no issues with the cash since my story (business traveler planning to stop by Atlantic City) was apparently believable and nobody thinks I look like a drug runner.

The only annoying thing at all was that I've had a few times where security said how much money I was carrying indiscreetly.

OP,

if you are seriously worried about getting pick pocketed or robbed, there is only one solution.

Don't bring more than 10k on a plane, unless you want to be detained in the event its discovered.

Far as I know, $10K is only important when traveling abroad. You can't come/go outside the US with >$10K without paperwork. But domestically, there ain't no laws about this that I can find. Doesn't mean some power-tripping law enforcement officials won't get a bloodhound to bark at your money and try to take your wad if you bring a bunch, but I know of nothing magical about $10K.

This has been discussed here in the past, welcome to the post 911 world. 10k is illegal overseas, 10k domestically gets you stopped and investigated, but its not illegal.

TT and crew. You guys usually put up good posts but this is the most flawed thing I can think off. I mean 10k with a RUBBER BAND..... That's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO old school.

We are in a new century and a specialized money clip is now in order

My standard roll cannot fit in a clip, and I play higher-middle limit games. If you practice hard someday you can have the same problem.

I have crossed the us border with 14k in cash. A 19 year old travelling by himself with large amounts of cash is pretty suspicious. They just make you fill out a form, don't even ask you why you have it, all pretty standard.

Unless you can't comfortably fit it in your pockets i see no real reason to bother with wiring money.
